- victoriathis number called, and AFTER I told them to stop calling, she told me to"govern myself accordingly, and hung up"
- Choked| 4 repliesWe had a message on our answering machine from someone named Sue, looking for a neighbour that lives in our complex. She asked us to pass a message on to this neighbour to contact her regarding an urgent business matter. We did some research and found out the number belongs to CCA. We contacted her to say that we thought this was completely unethical; she stated that they did not think it is; and we asked her to remove our address and number from her files. She said she would, only time will tell. We are in the process of trying to find out where we can make a formal complaint. It is bad enough being harassed by telemarketers all the time, we do not need to be harassed by collection agencies on the behalf of someone we do not even know!

- Djreceived several calls and generally very early as 07:25, others follow. No message, just repeated calls that do more to harass/annoy.
- AnnoyedThis number calls me over 10 times a day. You would think after I've talked to them, telling them they are calling a wrong number, im not the person their looking for, they would stop calling. NOT EVEN CLOSE> They call more than ever, ive told them dont call again and they said not till get ahold of the person we are looking for. IM NOT THE PERSON YOUR LOOKING FOR! Stop calling me at 5am, 6am, 7am, 8am, and continuously throughout the day. I Tell them I'm filing a complaint, let me talk to the manager they hang up, call back 20 minutes later.
- GrrrRings once or twice a day on my wife's pay as you go cell. Using up our paid for minutes hunting down someone that was previous owner of same number. Automated message about "important matter" plays but cuts off before completing. I think these are the people Bush hired to find Osama Bin Laden. Good luck. I'm going to call them now and b*tch.

- mehYes that's a collection agency in Winnipeg.
I believe they're allowed to call people 7am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and not allowed on Sundays.
If you are not the debtor, and you ask them to remove your number - they have to do what you say.
If you are being harassed and the collector is being a prick you can speak to their manager and file a complaint, even if you are the debtor or not. They have to speak to you in a civil manner, and not yell and scream like a banshee.
ALSO! All their calls are monitored and recorded. FYI.- Caller: CCA

- Huh?!!!I missed a phone call from 204-926-3165. Since the number appeared on my caller ID, I contacted it. I was on auto-hold for 10 minutes so I decided to hung up and try a few minutes later. In the meantime, I researched the number which led me to Commercial Credit Adjusters. That's unusual, "I don't owe anyone money". So I called back once again. They identified themselves as Commercial Credit Adjusters but quickly hung up when I spoke. I called again... they hung up from the moment I was about to speak.

- Wow replies to Choked| 1 replyYes, that seems SOOOO unethical... idiot
- Resident47 replies to WowIt is unethical when the collector knows perfectly well how to contact an alleged debtor, yet chooses first to hassle all the "nearbys", thus to create false shame under the guise of "skip tracing".
- vIt is illegal for them to call more than 3 times in a 24 hour period. If it happens, sue, sue, sue!

- Lily PageHow often can they contact you?
The agency has to observe a number of restrictions about how often their agents can contact you and how they communicate with you. For example, after their first conversation with you, the agents cannot contact you more than three times in a seven-day period without your consent, except by regular mail. “Contact” means the agents must actually speak with you, email you or leave you a voice mail. If you don’t answer the phone and the agents don’t leave a message, it doesn’t count as a contact.
In addition, the agency cannot:
contact you on Sunday, except between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
contact you on any other day of the week between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
contact you on a statutory holiday
use threatening, profane, intimidating or coercive language, or
use undue, excessive or unreasonable pressure.
Can they ask other people about you?
In general, a collection agency can contact your employer once to obtain your employment information. Otherwise, they cannot contact your employer unless:
your employer has guaranteed the debt
the call is in respect of a court order or wage assignment given to a credit union
you have provided written authorization to contact your employer.
A collection agency cannot contact your spouse, a member of your family or household, or a relative, neighbour or acquaintance except to obtain your address and telephone number, unless:
the person contacted has guaranteed the debt
you have given permission for the person to be contacted.- Caller: Commercial Credit adjustors

- Learn your facts!| 5 repliesAll of you on here are just whining and complaining. They are they to help companies get what is owed to them. I don't understand why everyone has to be rude and ignorant. If you get the call(which is NEVER more than 3 times a week) either state that you would like to not be called and ask to get taken off the calling list OR own up and pay your debts! They will work with you and not against you. Yes, you will come across a grumpy collector every once in awhile but if you're polite and aren't rude and ignorant to them just because they are doing their mb, then all should be hunky dory!

We will NOT be courteous, polite or in any way helpful to your corrupt industry. You should “learn your facts” since your too stupid to realize you are illegally in possession of the wrong information regarding American Consumers, and that alone is in violation of FDCPA. hunky dory now? - post pending moderator approval
