Portfolio Recovery ASSociates wouldn't identify themselves until asked for the 5th time.

Call all the time, refuse to identify their co. Or name

They called my cell around 8 a.m. asked for me by name. I replied who is this.he said portfolio recovery.  Any debts i have are over 20 years old. I said he had wrong number. He hung up.must be some place that buys really old debts.how do they get your phone number..abyine know?  Hope this helps.

I get calls from them all the time. I have no debts that I owe. I keep blocking their numbers, and they keep calling.

Called during work and I didn't answer. No message left.

Thanks for the helpful comments I will put this number on a block list, they call me and won't identify who they are.

I you are new to bill collectors calling repeatedly, you may just have to wait out the many calls you will be getting. NEVER ANSWER these unknown calls, local area codes of out of state. Once they know your # is a working personal phone, they may never give up. If an operating # (not answering as a disconnected #) is never picked up at the receiving end, it can be determined to be unassigned. Eventually these bill collectors, who are violating the law, will give up and write it off. Hang in there; be smart and treat these calls as any other phone scam

Called and asked for someone with the first name "Santiago" (which is not me) and saying it was a "personal business matter". Didn't have on my glasses so couldn't see it was an out of town number.

I GOT a call this morning from these people...they asked for me by name then gave me my last for...i told them it wasnt me....i havent had any dept in twenty years...in fact i paid off all of them...but by the same token i hope they try to sue..because i have ALL my records....and i will file a law suit...they said it was a citi bank account...in ala.the stat is 3 years anyway.....so its just intimidation they work on...but im ready...if they want to play...

My husband received a call from this number with the person saying they're from "Portfolio Recovery". They said they sent a letter two weeks ago to an address that is 6 address old...when we lived in a different state 10 years ago. They asked for an updated billing address, but my husband told them that he won't say anything unless they send paperwork for our lawyer to look over. Needless to say, they hung up.
