I called this number back & told them to remove me from their call list. She informed me there was not a list. I have NO debt & live alone - there should be no reason for a debt collector to be calling my number.

I have been getting calls from this number for the past month or so.  Today I decided to answer the call and was told I had an outstanding debt (which I don't as I pay with cash for everything).
I didn't have a chance to write the 800 # down so I called this number back and was told that it is a problem with their phone that they are trying to get fixed?!?!???

I keep getting called from this business looking for another person that used to live at the address 10 years ago. The first person I talked to said my phone number wasn't in the database. I called 5 minutes later, got a second gentleman who said it was. Sure enough, it was listed as the guy who used to live at my address.

No message from caller - just hung up when phone was not answered.

Got a call from these people.  Upon researching them found out they are a scam that buys up old forgiven debits and trys to get anyone with a close SSN to pay it.  They are out of China and the Feds would LOVE to track them down and put them away for eturnity!

Call to recover someone elses debt. Wont quit!

PORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES-- this is a third party collection agency.  They buy up old "written off debt" from chargeoffs, bankruptcy, ect. they then harass people to pay as much as they can get them to pay (usually half)  but sometimes they want much more. There are hundreds of complaints on the internet boards on this company. Get a phone reccorder and tell them you're recording their call (and record it) then you'll have a record of the haressment when it comes time to turn it over the atty. generals office.  This is a publicly traded company on the nasdaq. Takes all kinds.

Portfolia Recovery is a company out of Norfolk, VA not China.
They buy old debt and then try to get someone to pay for what they bought even if the debt is out of the statute of limitations for a persons state.  They will threaten wit garnighments and to take money from your bank account.  remember uninformed kiddies, no one can just take money from you just because they claim you owe them money.  They have to sue you and then win.   Remember the burden of proof is on then not you.  Just say prove it with original comtracts with your signature in black or blue ink and not a xerox.  
Although what they are doing is not illegal,  its very annoying and they can be sued for harassment if they call enough.  If Portfolio Recovery can sue for anything,  so can you.  Harassment, mental anguish ect.  Get a good ambulance chasing lawyer and make it a personal injury suit.

Oh and those calls about wanting to install an alarm system in your house,  it's Portfolio Recovery's skip tracing at it trying to prove your location.  gotta love debt trolls.

I called them back to ask them to stop calling. I told them I was recording and she said you do not have my permission call back when you're not recording and hung up!!! How do you get them to stop calling? I would block, but they call from many different numbers.

I've been getting the same calls on my cell for quite some time and they come from all over. I answered once and they were looking for my ex husband who I have been divorced from for over 20 years.  Gave them no info but was shocked that they asked for him.  I'm sure they use some type of internet tool to see who relatives are.    Very very annoying and I am on the do not call list but it doesn't seem to work with them. They are the only "telemarketer" I get on my cell.  Just beware and if you do answer their calls - do not give them any personal information.  Its bad enough they have your number.

Received a call from this number today. No message. I suspected it was Legal Recovery Law Office or Portfolio Recovery Associates. Both use different numbers. Since I don't answer calls from numbers with which I am not familiar, it doesn't bother me if they call and want to waste their time.

Interesing note, however: Received a message from a caller from a different number who said he was calling from Legal Recovery Law Office and represented Portfolio Recovery Associates.

Glad I checked here before calling them late at night after hours to determine who they are.

They continue to call, I have no known debt with them.

Called, left no message!

Debt collector.  Came up as blocked caller on ID.  They called me but had wrong last name, remarried, and said I owed money from 2004.  I told him I filed bankruptcy on this, which I did in 2004, and he said he would turn that info over to their bankruptcy department and they would call if they had questions.  Never did ask for my correct name.  Was also rude.  Portfolio Recovery I believe was the name.

They called from this number and have called from others.  The only debt I owe is on my car and it's paid up 2 months in advance at this moment.  My credit score exceeds 750 so I can''t possibly owe them anything.

Don't call my number again whoever the hell you are I will call you when I recover what you owe me fool!

Well I guess these Portfolio People don't know when to quit. They call about someone who no longer has this number. I continue to tell them that this person does not live at this number. They hang up then use a different number to call. I guess I will continue to use my fax to divert them sooner or later. Sick of them.

These stupid phone games after 2am better stop or we might join the "Fight Club," to wipe you trolls out.
