- GA Mom| 7 repliesOnidm is correct - this is one of the millions of phone numbers Portfolio Recovery, a bottom feeder debt buyer, uses. They have been calling me off and on for at least the last 4 years trying to collect on a charged-off credit card from 2002 that I never had. They have the wrong middle initial and the wrong last name...at least for an account back in 2002 which was before I got married and acquired the last name they say this debt is for. Plus they claim at one point I was making payments to them from 2 banks I've never heard of and that don't even exist in the state I live in. No matter how many times I've told them they have the wrong person, they don't care. It's beyond the statute of limitations so they can't sue and when I asked for verification of the debt they simply sent this standard form letter that repeated what they said on the phone - it was a total of $xxx.xx for a charged-off such-and-such credit card and they could offer the following payment plans. Yeah, whatever. Don't hold your breath. I always google numbers I don't recognize and that don't leave messages and in this case I just add them to the "block caller" list on my phone. Here's a link that confirms this is Portfolio Recovery - http://www.everycall.us/phone-number/1-205-623-2948/

- Messin with emI answered the phone when they called using what had to be a horrible accent. I figured you are going to harass me in the middle of the evening, I am going to mess with ya. I told the lady I who was pretending to be someone else was not available and I would take a message. The lady who stated her name was Ms. Walker stated no and demanded to know what time I would be available. Her demanding tone just made me want to be even more of a smarty and I asked who she was and who she was with. She rudely insisted I KNOW WHO SHE IS and demanded to know when I would be home. Needless to say I hung up. Apparently they are calling on a debt that is no longer even on my credit history. I already have talked to an attorney about the calls and their tactics. They keep it up, they'll be owing me. bwahahahahahaha

- Very sick lady| 1 replyI received a call from them yesterday talking telling me I owed xxx.xx$. For a store thirty minutes away that went out of business 10 + years ago. Under my maiden name. Told them I just arrived at that time in the state that I currently reside in. And had my purse stolen from a vehicle that belong to someone else. Said they talk to me in 2011 I took something in to have repaired. Ok I never had this number or a cell phone at the time. So none of it adds up. Only answered because my dad's job is in the traveling business and thought it might be him cause his phone is on the fritz. They asked for my address to send paperwork to fill out. Started haveing a bad coughing spell told her I had to get off phone to do a breathing treatment. Which is in no way a lie. I am on a nebulizer machine after a post hospital dr visit. Have been in and out of hospital since December 2012. Have had to very radical surgeries and still trying to recover from it. Plus dealing with the fact they cannot figure out what is causeing me to still be so sick. After a scam call last summer from Texas right before a surgical test. And now another place trying to do the same thing again. Where do they get these bottom feeder low life's? Blocked number right away.
