Says a claim is filed; usually calls from a different number; this is a scam. The IRS never calls you for money by phone; they send a registered letter for you to sign. Never send money to anyone by phone. They are scammers trying to get your money. The person or persons is a scammer.

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

I got a recording saying that they were calling to report a returned item/check.  Said it was really important that they speak with us (they called a business).  They also said that if they couldn't reach us that they would have to make a decision and it would not be in our favor.  The recording never identified what company was calling or who they were trying to reach.  I googled the number and found this.  I won't be bothering to call them back.  If it's that important (or legit) an actual person should call instead of a non-specific recording.

Same here saying it was a returned merchant item and if I didn't take care of it with them they would procede to file in court against my s s number they have called us like 20 times already. Saying different things and even hanging up when we told them to mail us paper work.  If it's legit they should already have our address. These are crooks and need to be stopped.

Received call from 205-392-8777, given 205-737-3859 as call back number.  Says that I have a delinquent payday loan that's in their office (Global Solutions).  Would not give me a web address to verify that the company is real.  No information on the account other than when it supposedly became delinquent.  I asked for an account number, case number, or file number.  None of this information was available.  Given the email address: finalization.director@mail.com

mail.com is a FREE email service.  Would a legitimate company use that?  They have no information available - would a real company not have that??
Demand WRITTEN proof of the debt that is MAILED to you.  That must be done within 5 days of your request.  (Don't expect that to happen).  Otherwise, don't waste your time but expect some meaningless threats (also illegal).

Total scam outfit.  Call from a variety of numbers.  They say they are in Miami but have "48 other locations".  That's their stock phrase when you ask them were they are located.  If you call them, you get a call center, almost certain it is an overseas outfit, with some sort of connection to domestic scammers.  Block and ignore anything that calls itself "Global Solutions".

It's a scam.  Whoever it is called one of my numbers looking for someone named Keisha.  They threaten you with pre-trial.  They also seek your address because they claim they will threaten you at work.  The guy that called goes by the name John Brown.
