same thing, called on a Saturday and didn't leave a message. I am SUPPOSED to be on a NO CALL list; what a joke!  I think the no-call list is getting sold under the table to these annoying idiots!

I am on no-call list.  NSR called asking me to do a survey.

called 1/7/08 and 1/5/08; I am also on the do not call list but I am a former Capital One Credit Card user if it is them.

called twice today.  accidentally left a long message the first time because i could hear talking in the background and someone saying something about "knows not to answer."  I had no idea what that meant until I read this other stuff posted.

call from 205-985-3363.  did not leave message.  Caller ID said Birmingham, AL.  I don't know any one there.  Won't answer call based on what I've read here.

Received a call at 6:20 p.m March 28.  I didn't answer and they let my house phone ring FOREVER!  It was crazy.  And then I tried to call it back, and I got some weird automated message that hung up on me.  I don't understand how this should be considered a legitimate business practice, it is sooo annoying!

I have gotten three calls from that number in this past week alone.  But I had gotten more before that.  I have never had a Capital One Card so there's more to it than that.  My roommate called the number for me on her own phone and it did the automated message/hang up thing that others have reported.  I'm seriously considering driving to Birmingham (45 min away) and walking right up to those [***].  So glad this message board exists.

We've received calls from this number several times, usually at odd hours, with nothing left on the answering machine. New South Research (NSR) is a company that conducts surveys for other clients. Surveys are NOT covered by the DNC list, just like political fundraisers, charities and churches aren't covered. You don't have to answer if you see NSR on your caller ID, but they aren't doing anything illegal by calling. Therefore, it seems, there is no real recourse, other than to answer the phone and scream at the $5/hour underling who is just calling numbers from a list to read a script they were given by their supervisors. I know its annoying, but I've been on both sides of this one. I worked for another telephone research company while in college. If you never answer, eventually, whatever survey they're doing will expire, and they will quit calling. Or you cuss out some college student, housewife or grandma trying to make a little extra money by doing a job nobody likes.

I was called today.  It was a lady named Michelle Cook.  She was calling to verify a job reference.  A gentleman I formerly worked with gave me as a reference.  That's all.

Calls about three times a week, once at 9:00PM.  BA$TARD$!
