Today Steve Foster (thick accent)called representing Cash Advance Mutual stating that I owed them $645.00.  He can't tell me any particulars of the case only that if I send him a letter/statement that I actually owe this money he can help me keep black marks off my credit report.  He told me that I had money deposited into my account, but couldn't tell me when.  I told him that I think he is a fraud and not to call my work again.  He gets very frustrated when I interrupt his "canned" message.

Caller said his name is Tony Thompson (w/ very thick accent)  from USA CLAIMS DEPT. that because I have good habit of paying bills timely , the government will reward me 5K so i will have to go to WESTERN UNION  giving branch code # SU74145 . The instruction was to call him at 206 237 0030 so he can talk to western union guy .
I should be ready with $99 to pay Western Union for fees and I will received $5,100 in return.  The instruction is not to tell anyone even Western Union about the phone number .

I know even up front that this is a scam .  I told him that I am very computer literate and I can easily check him out but it did not stop him from urging me to go .  I told him OK it could take me from 30 minutes to 30 years to be there .  He probably did not understand me and he just said ...."he will wait for my call" .

I don't honestly think he is willing to wait through year 2041 !!!!!!

I also got a call  from this same person Tony Thompson,  telling me exactly the same instructions. I know that government grants are not just given freely to anyone without the necessary  paperwork and undergoing certain procedures. Maybe this person is not aware that there is such a thing as reverse phone look up!  Thanks for your post. It helps a lot.

We just finished talking to them after several times of telling them it is a scam they told us they wanted our daughter the numbers they have used so far are 975-193.-3872 206-237-0030 and 254-301-9300-47?? they tried the western union version of the scam

Received same call from a now named Peter from the Treasury Dept.  Apparently he changes his name frequently. Told me because of paying my taxes on time and becuase have not filed for  bankruptcy. The state was going to give me 5000 dollars.  And to go to a Western Union to claim the money. Very persistent in knowing my DOB.  Please do not fall for this scam.

this is a scam you dont have to pay for grants.

I have just been scammed bye the same guy for trying to bye a puppy I sent 350.00 and I didn't do any reasurch I feel for it he got angry with me when I would say this is a scam and he hung up on me .. Please post what he has done to u or anyone u know on www.ic3.gov to report him to the FBI I spoke with them and they gave me the web site

Same happened to me a month ago. I sent $150 for a Siberian husky and he called wanting $600 more so i called the law! Ugh its pathetic whoever they are. Who did u send the money to? May be same name i did.

Received a VM stating that there has been a law suit filed against me. An obvious scam.

Scammers said they were judicial system asked if I was (some name)
And I said no... then they asked me my phone number.
When I wouldn't give it the guy called me a liar!
Scammers got scammed!

Just got an automated vm message from this number in Seattle WA stating a lawsuit had been filed against me and that I needed to call them back.....obvious scam.

Caller said I had to call them back immediately due to a lawsuit had been filed against me.  I get these calls at least twice a day. I'm assuming a scam!!!!

Got robo message on answering machine saying there is a lawsuit filed against me.  Scam.

I got a robo call about some lawsuit to be filed, could not make out any particulars. Supposed to call back the number. Looks like a phishing scam.

Today I received a call, obviously by the same caller, stating that I needed to call them back at 206-237-0030 regarding a lawsuit that has been filed against me. A week or so ago, a message was left saying that I had won third prize in the Publishers Clearing House and that I needed to contact them immediately.
Beware, lots of nasty, desperate crooks out there!

Yep got 2 of those calls today. Scammers. They say I have a lawsuit against me with IRS.
