- Sue| 1 replyWeinstein & Riley. They are persistent buggers. They leave a long blank message on my machine, never asking for anyone in particular or saying what they want, they call every week or so. I've never lived in the Seattle area or on the West coast at all. I'm not sure what they want but I do know there are many people that share my name,it's a common last name. I also had my identity stolen back in 1999, way before it became a popular scam, and I'm still fighting with credit companies about the false charges. The person who did it was caught red handed and convicted and went to prison for 3 yrs. She should be the one they go after for restitution but apparently banks don't care they'll take it from whoever they can bully into paying it off.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.
