Sure enough, I received the same email for an item I am selling on craigslist ( in Richmond, Virginia ). It didn't click that it was a scam, although something seemed off, so I sent him an email requesting for payment over paypal instead with an alternate email address, and called the number ( it is a fax/voicemail - yyeah, some kind of mobile! )

   I received the same email in return and the number appears to be coming from the Seattle area, although who knows for certain where it really is.

   I think the key is to keep in mind that even though the scam isn't that good, he's not particularly bright - but this thread certainly made me certain that he is illegitimate.

1st I got an email from Larry Smith - liberiaboy1@gmail.com . I replied then got same email as everyone else but from this addr liberiaboy0@gmail.com . I replied and told I knew he was a scammer

you can spot these freaks a mile away, same MO or variation of.

This is a scam. I check it out on google and he is trying to get someone on his scam. I called and got a recoarding from his number.

Does any one have the name this individual was going by for their cases ?

I also just got the same email.  The email address I got was - frankwilliam098@gmail.com first and after I replied it came from this email sanquevega@gmail.com.

I got the same thing from the email listed above. He went by Sanque Vega. I wrote him back and said that I know it is a scam/fraud and that I have reported him to the police and FBI. Hopefully someone won't actually fall for him!!

Hi all!  I hope you see this email and react quickly.  My son was an unfortunate victim to this CraigsList conartist.
He unfortunately lost a few thousand dollars.  So I got mad and tracked down this person.  If you received a check made out to you with the heading of "Lewis & Clark College", please contact the Dover, Delaware police and ask to speak with Detective Spicer.  Once I figured out who the real person is (under the alias name of Sanque Vega or Frank Collins in their email corespondence), I contacted the Detective Spicer and faxed him the information... He arrested Marilyn Hardaway 2 days later and she has since then been convicted & sentenced!!!! Act now while this is still hot.  The bank on the check in Portland, Oregon, has collected 52 of these fake checks and we need to build a bigger case against her.  Good Luck. (Sorry, I am just now getting it posted... This all started back in June 2009.)

Attention all CraigsList victims of Sanque Vega (also known as, San or Frank Collins) this is a scam.  The person who did this was just convicted last week in Dover Delaware.  Her name is Marilyn Hardaway and the checks she sends out have the heading "Lewis & Clark College" of Portland, Oregon.  If you have any helpful information to prosecute her on more cases, please call the Dover Police and ask for Detective Spicer.  (302)795-4711.  The bank in Oregon that is listed on the check has collected 52 of these checks and you might be one of the victims.

The real person's name is Marilyn Hardaway, formerly of Texas, and currently living in Dover, Delaware.  I tracked down the real identity and she has been arrested and sentenced.  If you have been a victim, contact Detective Spicer of the Dover Police  (302)736-7111.... Let's get her on her other scams too.

No phone call...but I did get an obvious scam message from sanquevega@gmail.com in response to an item listed on craigslist.  Calls himself Mike, and says he will be paying with a certified check via UPS.  Interesting that this is still going on in mid-2010.

Yup, "Mike" (sanque vega) just replied to my Craigslist add too.
He's sending me a check. Not the first time I've been through this.
I'll see if the check is from Lewis & Clark
