Kelsey, what were the nature of the calls?

Why was this number calling you? and was it a guy named Will Riley?

I got a craigslist response with this number and Will Riley.  Whoever it is he is using the oldest craiglist scam in the book:

"Do you mind if i pay you through paypal though i would be willing to
cover the shipping because am not local at the moment am out of town
to visit my sick grandma and i would like to purchase this item on
behalf of my colleague as a replacement for her crashed computers
because she did the same when i lost mine too."

Give me a break.  Avoid this person.

Thanks for helping to confirm he's a scam.

I am in the middle of selling my Blackberry 9700 and just got a response from this wingnut as well.
LOL what some people will continually try hey?? Thank goodness for sites like this to inform the vulnerable!

By the way, there is no phone number attached but shorty after I told this Will Riley person to pound sand, I then received another email with a similar request from a Vincent Price (LOL)

Also wanting to swing a PayPal thing. Beware guys. Craiglist is for your local area to meet up in person and receive payment. Don't get screwed!

Thanks for posting info about "Will Riley"! I just got an email request almost identical to the above claims, see below. The number given earlier was also listed as 206-309-0245. So glad people are making such scams public!!!

I get a bunch of these. What I do is reply and ask for their paypal account information so I can verify it. When they send it to me I immediately report it to paypal as a compromised account. Not much else to do.

this dumb [***] tried to screw me over too!!! be warned!

I got the same response to a post of my on CL. The scammer used the name 'Rob Skubiak'

i got the same thing for my camera equipment  This time they used the name Sarah Frisk but the email came from Derric Peterson

Yeah, I got a similar email as a response to my CL ad and figured it was a scam. Now he's going by the name Jeri Weaver. Don't bother with it.

I also got a response to my CL listing from Jeri Weaver and Kendra Richo...Thanks for this website..I'm ignoring it! Be warned!!!

Yep.  Now that person is "Elaine Riley"...........she just sent me an email about a computer we have posted on CL.

Just got the same one - thanks again for posting this.  

"Elaine" said she had a hard time hearing, she was a naval officer out to sea and would send a representative to pick up the car after I gave her my pay-pal information.  I emailed "her" and asked her not to bother me again.

It's Jake Jacobson now.

I received an email from this person attempting to buy my laptop. Thank you for this e-mail chain to help me avoid being scammed.

I am not a scammer....someone was using my mail to scammed you people....

It's a scam, Here is how it works.
1. They message you (text/email)
2. They say they'll give you more than what your asking but by PAYPAL
3. If you agree, you'll receive an email saying the customer sent you your money already and all you have to do is email the tracking number, and then the money will show up on your account.

BUT, the email you receive is NOT  from PAYPAL

You can even call Paypal and ask them of they sent any emails to you, and they will confirm that someone is trying to scam you.

SO if you will NEVER receive any $$ on your paypal account, because paypal is not even involved.
