Automated call back number irs scam

Message says it's the IRS, and they are going to open a lawsuit against me, and I should call this number.  After I calmed down, I realized it was probably a scam.  So right: call is from Washington state, not Washington, DC.  Also, caller is "Unavailable".  PS, why don't you have Scammer in your list of Call Types?

Automated message saying the IRS is suing me.  Interesting .... Notice for that is usually served by a process server

My mom is 82 and she also received a call from this number.  Says they are filing suit and we need to get back with them.  It has to be a scam.  Had she not called me at the office and told me about it, she may have actually called it back.  The scum are out there preying on older people.  I would like to report it, but not sure who to?

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

Now the scammers have gone from a live person, who doesn't speak english well, that sounds threatening, to an automated voice message saying a lawsuit is forthcoming and you must call back immediately.  Oh my!

A woman called and said the IRS is filing a law suit against me if I do not call back. She did not leave her name or even use my name in the msg.

Robo call from "Internal Revenue ServiceS"  that is "filing lawsuit on you". Needless to say, I not take robo call seriously. These people should be strung up for preying on the uninformed and elderly. Bad mouth the President on the Internet and you just may get a unwanted governmental visit, yesterday, and yet we can't keep these clowns from scaring the bee-jeezus out of Grandma/Grandpa who have spent their entire lives living by the rule book? Skewed priorities.

Answering machine picked up and computer-generated caller said they were from the Internal Revenue Service and they were filing a lawsuit against us.  They asked us to phone this number to get more information. The call originated from Bainbridge, WA.  This is the second time we have gotten a call of this nature. Beware!

I also got this call just now!and no they didnt jave my name is asked me to return the call at first I did was busy!Im retired and know this wasnt true but what about some that dont scares yhe crap out of them!same number!

Received two phone messages today. Numbers 206 317 1701 from Washington D.C. lady left message claiming to be IRS  no name,etc threatening law suit. Call back # unavailable.  Also another from area code 306_718_9117  location in Canada same message pretending to be the internal revenue service.
Wish these phone calls would stop.  Government should really act on this.

This is NOT the IRS!  I received a voice mail stating to contact them immediately because IRS filed a lawsuit against me.  This is not true per IRS website.  IRS does NOT send out robo-calls to notify of pending lawsuits.  I reported them to IRS and to FTC.  Scam, another crook who wants your banking information.  Do NOT call them back.  They may be able to assess your contact lists or other ways of stealing from you or others.

Same thing...actually had TWO "this is the IRS and we are filing a lawsuit against you" calls from two different numbers.  Both were out of Washington STATE not, DC.  At least Caller ID said WA.  Please. Hopefully people are a little more intelligent now and don't fall for such obvious scamming.  It worries me that older people who aren't so internet savvy might be taken in.

I too just got the same message on our answering machine. "We are calling you to officially notify you that the IRS, Internal Rev. Service, is suing you for your back taxes. To review this case please call 206-317-1701, I repeat, 206-317-1701. Thank You." When I called the number back "No one is available to take this call, please leave your message". I work for the Federal Government and that was definitely not any system we would ever use.

Scam!!!  Second time they have called us.

Second time in a year they have called claiming to be IRS.  SCAM!!!

I just received a call from this #, they left a message saying I was being sued by the IRS. I'm glad this was posted, I was pretty sure it was a scam, just wanted to know for sure.

I also returned the call.  I knew the area code was Washington state.  I was pretty sure it was a scam, but called back just to be sure.  Person who answered the phone had a discernible accent.  He said his name was John Miller.  I asked him what the mailing address was and he said 1111 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington DC (I forget what zip code he said).  I asked why he was giving me a Washington DC address when the number was from Washington state.  He said the calls are routed there.  I asked how I knew this was really the IRS.  He said I could look up his name and badge number if I went to "ftc.gov/irs."  He said FTC was for federal tax commission.  I said, no, FTC is the federal trade commission.  I said I know this is a scam and he hung up on me.

Received call at 11:30 this morning.The remote call told me I owed income tax from 2008 - 12 and to call a number and ask for extension 260. Instead I called the number on my caller ID. A man with thick Hispanic accent answered. I was very pushy requesting a supervisor. He kept telling me to shut up he didn't want to hear what I wanted. Told me officers were going to pick me up within 2 hours unless I did what he said and I would go to jail. l told him his Hispanic accent was to heavy for me to understand and I wanted a supervisor, he put me on hold and a couple of minutes later a man with same voice answered and said he was Officer Patrick Hunter. When I told he sounded the same as previous person with the same accent and inflectons he disconected after I was again told to shut up..
