I received a call from this number this morning insisting that it was the IRS and a suit has been filed against me.  I suspect that some fraudulent organization obtained my phone number through some recent dealings I had with Amazon.  If there was any legitimacy to the claim, I would have received something via certified mail and NOT some automated message that goes to a phone owned by my company.

I was told the IRS was suing me and to dial an extension.   I called the IRS I was told they do not call.   They mail everything.  This is scary. I was a nervous wreck.

TOTAL SCAM!! Just got this automated call saying it was the IRS and they were "filing a suit against me." Ridiculous. My uncle was a high ranking IRS official and this is NOT how the IRS handles its audits or criminal investigations.

got a call stating the IRS was filing a law suit against me.  I called the number back and asked to be removed from the calling list where someone with a heavy Indian accent told me that the only way to get removed from the list was "to move out of the USA, are you ready to leave leave the USA?"  WTH?

SCAM... Nothing worse than hearing IRS on the line even if it is an automated message. Authentic communications from the IRS always come via certified mail. Still... It did cause my heart to sink to my stomach!

They are hard core Indian or Pakistani scammer/extortionists.  They ignore all US laws.Invest in a call blocker and do not pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.   Ongoing scam.  Been around for awhile.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
