206-333-1164 - Nigerian Scam replies to DarrellGuys, this is just an old fashioned Nigerian Scam. Google it.
They will send you a cashiers check made out for an amount higher than what you're selling your boat for. They will ask you to cahs the check and then give them back the balance to "cover shipping fees". Then they take your boat.
What you will find out in a few days is the cashiers check will turn out to be phony. They will pocket the difference between the price of your boat and the "refund" amount and the bank will not only stick you with the $6,000 or whatever you have to give them in cash or Western Union Transfer, but will stick you with overdraft fees, bad check fees, etc.
I can't believe people still fall for this. They've even had full hours of Dateline NBC and 20/20 devoted to it. - Ed in CAI had the same exact email word-for-word (see below) except for the price of the boat from Fred Green with the same phone number. I decided to do some homework on his name and phone number, as it seemed like a scam. Thanks to all of you that have reported this name and phone number, which saved me from a huge mistake. 206-333-1164 - Phil replies to Dave G| 1 replyHe is persistent but it sounded strange to look for a refund. I’m sure it won’t be long before the phone number changes. Fortunately, that was the only way I was able to find this site. Although, I could not find a park land boats there was an automobile dealer with the same address. I was going to call just before I found this site. I received the email as well but with only a first name and this time it’s Godwin. The email is parklandboats@live.com this time but the phone number is the same. I will be reporting to whatever agencies that might care, key words being “might care”. Thanks to ALL of you for your responses. See email below:
