Some stupid @$$ trying to tell me he was from a computer security outfit and my computer was 'spitting out' error messages to them, along with viruses. Heavy middle eastern accent.

This number just called me too. They try to get cc information and steal money. Its very unethical.

this person called asking about my computer and who was the owner and the age of the owner of the pc. didnt know what to say but it sent up some red flags in my mind so i didnt say [***] that was personal or gave away personal info.

Just called 30 minutes ago telling me my router was sending them error signals and someone opened emails on my computer containing viruses. I am not stupid and knew immediately something was wrong, So I told him "No Thank You" and he hung up in my face. He had a heavy middle eastern accent and wouldn't provide his name so beware.

I received the same sort of call yesterday 13-Feb at 6:17PM CDT.  Middle eastern accent wanting to get information from me right away.  He wouldn't give his name when asked.  I asked for his number to call back and he said he couldn't do that.

Same call type.  I played with him a bit, let him ramble for about 2 minutes.  Then I told him the call was being recorded.  He asked why and I told him he is a scammer and I then said I am turning the recording over to the FBI, needless to say he hung up.

This call came through @  1:05 p.m . today 2/16/2015 on my landline. I let it go to Voice mail. Didn't leave a message. After looking the number up, I "Blocked" it. If they call again they will not get through !!!!

just got a call and this person with a thick accent said my computer sent him a virus.  I said loudly what is your number.  he ask me why I was yelling.  I regret not playing with him...just wasn't a good time.

just got a call from the same number .. was a scam trying to sell me on services to "clean" my computer. Claimed that my computer was sending out junk mail and that there were virus files on my computer. Total BS. Said they were from iSecureVap, Looks like they have a web-site also : http://www.isecurevap.com/ ... Their number on the website is 18453636555, although the  (206) 337-7865 number leads to a VM. Time to call them back as they have been repeatedly harassing me ...

So, just a quick follow on. I did manage to reach iSecureVap. The US address they gave me is 7502 Evening Sky Circle, Austin, TX. The scam caller also said she was calling from Austin, TX.

iSecureVap's position however, is that they do not do outbound dialing or unsolicited contact with customers. They are aware that there have been a number of scammers operating and using their name. They did not recognize the 206-337-7865 number as their outbound number and would forward the information to their legal department who are working with the relevant authorities to bust this scam. The supervisor's I spoke to was Mark Robinson (although had an indian accent .. btw. I am indian too), so, not sure if that was really his name. Either case, he seemed genuine and sincere.

The fact that CID can be spoofed means that our phone networks are no longer secure. This issue needs to be tackled by the phone companies via ID&V when they sell a number or originate a call. This should be a FCC compliance issue. Even across interconnections (telecom networks), CID should be validated against a trusted database. The framework already exists within the LNP framework that was put in years ago. The fact that phone companies are turning a blind eye to this (because this is traffic revenue for them aka greenbacks), and the fact that the FCC oversight of this is rubbish (see the Do Not Call register as an example or try calling the authorities responsible for this) is where the breakdown has happened.

Without that first step on being able to establish trust/identity of the caller, mean our phone networks are junk.

Sorry for the vent .. just tired of people feeling it is their privilege to call my home and try to scam me  ..

Wanted information about my computer, he said his name was Chris from Texas,, lol when I asked about his accent, he called me a Racist! Lol

They called today, CID "unassigned".  Didn't answer.  No message left.

Third world Indians calling from a boiler room call center. Must be finished with their curry and rice, time to get back to work and scamming. Crooks.

Been getting these for awhile. Even had them swear at me because they thought I was rude. Told them only computer I use online is work and not registered in my name do they wouldn't call me anyway, they hung up.

Caller claimed to be from Microsoft and that I had a Virus that was located deep on my hard drive. I’m not sure he can spell Microsoft. He called several times, he had an oriental accent. Each time he calls (the same guy) had a different story. I told him that the only virus I had was him. He continues to call from time to time.

Get calls from them daily about my computer error, they barely speak English, I have asked nicely for them to stop, but lately i just hang up. I am a caregiver and all this calls are upsetting the person I take care off. Is there anything that can be done. I have been in the do not call list for years and that has not helped much.

The same east indian male called me from 206-337-7865 just a few minutes ago saying the same bs lines as written above. They did know my name and had an isp #. Which alone is scary if it corresponds with my computer. I didn't check. A savy person could tell it's a scam. I told them to have Bill Gates send me a letter with his phone # on it so I could call him personally. I also told them I was not using windows, but Apple. I asked him what he was trying to sell me, he said no, no you've got it wrong, if you'd just listen you would understand. I said, how do I know you are who you say you are? He said, because I told you.... LOL!!  Yeah, I believe everything someone tells me, just like everything online is true. Yep, I do understand. ;) wink
