The Caller Is Barry Johnson contacted through Craigslist.
I live in Virginia, but the caller is from Seattle, WA.  The chances of that are really slim.  And the e-mail that was sent to me seemed fraudulent as well.  I'm still waiting for an e-mail response to get further details.

Got email about a craiglist ad. Got the same number from two different emails. Once as Barry Richardson and once as Tony Patrick. The same bull [***] as any fraudster - going to send a bank cheque and asking me to remove my ad from craiglist. Also asked for my personal details. Not a good idea to give out details even if you want to verify the check.

I just received an email from the same name ( Barry ) and number.  I called the number and got a voicemail from Barry so I left a message.   The guy has an odd accent. May be Swedish..... not sure.
Anyway, did anyone ever hear back from him if you did leave a message ?   I think Chris Hanson from Dateline needs to pin this guy down... :)

I live in Florida and received the same response from Barry about a purchase from Craigslist.  Thought it was very odd because of the 206 area code.  And part of his auto signature was "E-sea Crew Maniger"  Misspelling screams this is fraud.
My recommendation is to block his email if you can

I just got the same email for a Craigslist ad in Honolulu! What is this wackjob doing? Just like Brian, his auto signature was "E-sea Crew Maniger." The misspelling was what I thought suspicious. He wanted to purchase an item without even looking at the condition! He was going to send a certified check...bologna! I'm glad I looked up this number.

Yep, now this guy's name is apparently "Tim Orosz". Funny thing was that the initial email was from yahoo.co.uk, and sure enough, the IP was from the UK as well, probably a proxy. The second email was from a GMail account, probably because the idiot knew he'd slipped up and used Yahoo when GMail does not put the source IP in the header.

The phone number is in Seattle, but I can almost guarantee it's a leased number with a service that will allow him to check messages remotely and possibly relay calls through it as well. Yet another worthless scumbag trying to rip people off and doing a very lousy job of it.

My name is Maria. I posted my BMW on Craigslist 03/08/2011. He said his name was Barry Johnson also. He asked me for my address, phone number, city everything. Of course I'm not going to give my personal information to anyone on craigslist. I'm glad I looked up this "BARRY JOHNSON" before I made any moves to sell him my car. So thankfull they have websites like this. You guys are awesome you totally saved me from making a wrong move.
