- DK| 5 repliesI have been recieving calls from this number 206 456 0662 , a heavily accented man with an India accent, saying he is from microsoft and want to send me $300 dollars refund and than proceeds to ask for my checking account number saying do i have $300 in my account. I then start to tell him that I do not have a checking account. The person on the line starts to ask to have access to my computer, start to click around in my computer and while this is happening I am seeing other persons personal information this is very disturbing and very wrong. Afterwards my computer starts to freeze up after he has messed around in my computer. Oh and the money never shows up.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- anonymous replies to DKIf you let him remote into your PC, your PC may be infected with malware. Take the PC with system discs to a local IT shop and have them clean it out or the drive reformatted and the OS re-installed. You do know this is a SCAM to get access into your PC (plant malware, steal files, whatever) or bank account (they will empty it), don't you?
- MycatspookyI also just got the scammer phone call, saying some bs about being from Microsoft, blah blah blah...my computer. I interrupted him and told him, my computer is fine and it's a scam,I know it's a #£¥€%ing scam and hung up. HeavyEast Indian accent.
Googled the phone number and got here.- Caller: Said from Microsoft
- psy| 1 replyI got a call earlier and they left a message on my answering machine... not really sure if the person said 'bye' or 'die'....
- Vickie Roff| 2 repliesThis person called from this number 206-456-0662, she had a Asian accent and she told me she was
calling from Mircosoft and my computer keep reporting to them that there are error messages reporting from my computor to them and they want to fix my computer . I told her my computer is not here and I could not turn it on. she then repeated herself and I told her I needed to leave and she asked if she could call me back in two hours and I said no!!!!!! and hung up.
I then called the number back and it said they could not be reached from my number. It also said this number is unsigned IP from the call network. Further more their number is in Seattle, WA and I live in Edmonds WA which is twenty five minute drive to Seattle. So of course they are
thieves. The most important thing here for me is that Microsoft is just twenty minutes away from me to. Beware everyone. Also just a suggestion but we need to call microsoft and let them know this is going on.- Caller: ? Microsoft
- Cindy| 1 replyI got the same call a few minutes ago from a man using 206-456-0662. He said the same thing as what was reported above. I wonder what is going on.
- Bret| 1 replyI just got the same phone call as everyone else. The only information I can get from this guy is that the number is based out of Seattle, Washington. I want to know if anyone has had any change in their computers since they recieved the call? Is there any way of tracing this person?
- Caller: Scammer claiming Microsoft
- nancyI live in San Diego and have received two calls from this number today but have not answered them. After reading what others have said here, i will continue to ignore them.
- MeIf you ever pick up by accident, tell them you have a Mac. They will end the call pretty quickly.
By the way, they are calling from India. They are routing the call so it appears like it's coming from the states, but it's not.- Caller: Some Indian scam
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Me replies to BretThere isn't. They are currently routing through Seattle but they are based in India. The last time I heard from these scammers was from a number in Chicago. This is about the 10th time I've been contacted by them.
- Me replies to CindyCindy, the scam is this: they say they are calling from Microsoft and they received word from your computer that you have a virus. They give you a site to go to and ask you to click a few things. This gives them remote access to your computer. Once in, they look for info, like banking info, credit card info, etc. they also can/do install malware and viruses.
They are nasty little [***] who should get a real job.
When I told them I knew their scam, the guy on the line told me he was going to rape me. Nice, huh?
Just tell them you have a Mac and they will hang up. - Barb replies to DKI just got the same call from the same heavily accented male
- MyselfI received a call from a lady with a heavy Indian accent asking me if I had warning signs or errors on my computer. She then asked if I had access to my computer. I asked her who she was with and she said she was with Microsoft and "they were contacting all Microsoft windows, etc users to fix the problem. I continued to ask her questions, knowing that Microsoft could not even begin to contact all of it's users, and she tried to strong arm me practically shouting do you have access to your computer. I said I was busy and to call back Monday around 10 & I'll be damned if they didn't just call! I typed this number in and saw the blog. Wow, a lot of people are going to get scamed
- Notgettingscammed| 1 replyReceived a called from this number at 9:01 this morning... From what sounded like a man with a heavy chinese accent.. He said was from Microsoft. Didn't get to far into the conversation before I hung up, realizing it was a scam.. Shame so many people don't realize this and get scammed by these losers. You can report this number http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0076-telemarketing-scams I don't know how but if anyone does, try to get something on the news about this... even if it saves just a few more people from not getting scammed.
- Caller: ''Unknown name''
- Notgettingscammed replies to NotgettingscammedEven if it saves just a few more people from getting scammed** Oops.
- here in michigan| 2 repliesJust received a phone call from a heavily accented man (Indian) insisting he is with Microsoft Windows support and he can see that we are getting a lot of errors and although we can't see them, they at Microsoft can and he is here to help. He was very insistant and I finally told him his call was unsolicited and unwanted and hung up. Again, he was VERY insistant. Tried to call the number back and of course it is an unassigned number.
- Caller: Microsoft
- Mike in MD replies to here in michiganTotal SCAM! Microsoft is aware of it and has information about the scam here:
