Tax fraud investigation recorded message requesting me to call back.

Some guy named "ERIC", although he sounded Indian. Asked for my husband. I said he wasn't here, asked to take a message. Then he asked my name. I didn't tell him. I asked his name, he said it was Eric, then I asked what he needed and he replied he needed me, he wanted to have sex he said. I hung up, then called the number back. Same guy answered, said it was the IRS and his name was Jeff....

recorded message saying that papers have been filed for tax evasion or tax fraud and asking me to call them back.

This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

2) Help kill their phone lines. The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). Threatening robo-call asking me to call back or a Tax Audit/Fraud investigation.

Just got a call myself. Scared me at first... but then got to thinking. And federal stuff gets sent to us thru our federal mail! They don't call us on our cell phones.

Just got a voicemail saying they were the IRS and to call them as I am going to be arrested for tax evasion.

Received same voice mail twice today saying they were the IRS that i am being audited for tax fraud and tax evasion that i should call them back before they the sheriff pick me up and take me to jail.  This is BS, these people need to be reported and they should go to jail for harassment.  I will report this.

I too received two of these calls today.  After listening closely to the calls I noted the following amusing items:
1.  The "official sounding voice"  said he was calling from the Internal Revenue Services and not the Internal Revenue Service
2.  On each of the two messages when the voice repeated the phone number it skipped one of the numbers in the sequence giving the phone number only 9 digits instead of the usual 10
As I was listening to the messages, I started laughing so much that I had tears running down my cheeks.  How do people come up with these obvious scams.  Maybe if they got real jobs and paid real taxes they wouldn't have the time to come up with such foolishness.

Got the same message twice. Have to love the way he ended the call- Have a Wonderful Day.

Just got the call about an hour ago.   Didn't sound right… first… the call was ostensibly from Washington State.    I presume, possibly incorrectly, that a call would come from DC or at least my home state.   not some other state (now I know no calls will come from the IRS first)       I asked him to verify who he was, asked for his # and location.   he gave me the number that ID captured, but he location was "Seattle Washington DC"  

No Money Loss…  Still… I am pissed!

Computer voice left a message saying he was Fernando Rodriguez from the Tax Audit debt department of the IRS.  Said I am being investigated for tax evasion and fraud and to call back before the local sheriff department comes and arrests me.  Caller ID said Seattle, WA.  Total scam.  

I received a message from the above number telling me I had a tax invasion - who are these people; the number is 206-512-1501.  I pay my taxes.    Are they allowed to do this

I called the number back and it's disconnected (206 512-1501 from Seattle). Hope that means they got shut down.

Same story about Fernando calling about about reported tax fraud and to avoid going to federal court needed to call back this number.  Anytime the IRS has questioned something in the past, it's been by mail, not by ridiculous phone calls like this one.

Out of interest I did call the number back and it sounded like a phone mill with many voices in the background and they didn't even answer with a person!  Stupid.

On 08 Sep 2014 @ 2:30 pm  I received a call from Fernando Rodriguez.  He left a garbled message saying he had a legal petition in my name regarding tax evasion & tax fraud & something about a tax audit.  He said I should call him immediately @ 206-512-1501 ( a non-working number)  to avoid arrest by the sheriff's department.  The second time he left the number he said 206-12-1501.  

I've found the best way to get back at these dumb [***] is to dial *67 then the phone number and wait till they answer wait 5 sec and hang up and repeat.  *67 blocks your phone number on the receiving end of the line. I've done this and I know it drives them nuts I love it. Also if you tie up there scam line they are not getting money from someone who's getting the crap scared out of them. they will turn the phone off for about 5 to 10 min and turn it back on.

P.S (If you [***] bags are reading this I will stop calling till the line is permanently disconnected.)
