I posted a laptop on Craigslist and received an email from Jason Stull with this number 206-666-1926. His offer seems to be pishy because he is asking me to send him my laptop to Africa. I will pass on the offer and want to warn everyone to be careful with this buyer.

Here is a quote from the email:

For the payment to be made immediately.
Am Located in Seattle (WA), But I am buying the item for my daughter that is on a tour in Africa. Don't worry about the shipping cost because, I will add extra $130 USD when making the payment. So you specify which of them that suits you best (PayPal or Money Order).

Thanks for your understanding.

Have a Splendid day.

Yours Sincerely,

Jason Stull.

Funny I got an email from Clint Davidson with the same phone number wanting me to ship my camera to Africa for his "traveling daughter". I knew that was bullsh** as soon as I read it. Thought I would do a search on his name just to confirm my smell of BS and found this.

Me to..
Hello,
Thanks for the mail. I'm in Seattle. I think $900 is nice. I hope the Camera is in perfect conditions. I would like it to be shipped to my daughter that is on a tour in Africa. I will include shipping tax of $100. I'll be using PayPal for payment if you have the account. If you do, send me a money request of the total amount to this email address. Thanks for your cooperation.

I got the same message and responded with this:

I just want to let you know the only reason im selling this laptop is my power bill of 342.58 is due. Im a single mother of 3 the youngest being 10months old. IF this is a scam do you realize what you would be doing to my 3 small children and myself. We would be living in a house with no power to provide for my family. My husband died a 6 months ago today. No insurance of life insurance policy. This is about all I have in the world to make enough so they dont turn off my power. If you are indeed serious...May God bless us both. If not would you sleep well at night know you contributed to our downfall... Please respond with your intent. If you would just reply either way with your honest reply It would be appreciated...Thank you and God Bless.......

LETS SEE IF I GET A REPLY AND SEE HOW BOLD THIS SUCKER IS...

All right I have a new one on a laptop I was selling on craigs list. Wanted it sent to Nigeria with an extra $200 for shipping. Said she was using Orion Money Order to send payment and wanted me to send it to her son through a internet friend. Her name was Mary Masha but had the same phone number. This is all good to know, so that I didn't make the mistake of sending the laptop out. Thanks again.

Thanks for posting the warning about this guy. I got similar inquiries for a PSP I was selling on Craigslist and felt it wasn't legit based on his verbage. Below is what he wrote me:

Thanks for getting back to me. I am from Washington and am also an Artist residing in London. Am still in State now for a break, but will soon be leaving for England to resume work. I'll be paying you through Paypal Account. It secures and protects two parties in a transaction. Through Paypal I can pay by credit card or bank account.

Just haven't had good feedback regarding security of PayPal. In addition, there are fees assessed in the transaction (up to 5%) which would be added to the overall cost as you would be working with a business account. I would need to verify a local address and phone number before considering such a transfer. Given the number of scams that originate from the continent you have requested for international shipping, these are reasonable precautions to ensure the transaction is legitimate.

I don't mind shipping with the USPS, but I would need a specific location to give you a reasonable quote. You might also want to consider a USPS money order (maximum limit on these domestically is $1000 and would probably work out cheaper than the 5% transaction fee of PayPal).

Let me know how you wish to proceed.

Hello,

Thanks for your mail. I want to let you know that paypal is the only safe and reliable way of payment. Visit www.paypal.com and create an account with your e-mail and send me your e-mail address when you must have open an account with them. So that I can facilitate the payment transfer to your account as soon as possible. I think USPS would be the cheapest shipping method you can trust and they are reliable.
I want you to enquire the total cost both shipping to Africa and provide me information to send the payment without further delays through your Paypal. Let me know ASAP. Thanks

Clint.

I got the same message for an Xbox in Chicago. The brakets "[]" around the title are a sign that there's some sort of automation. And plus the West Africa, never trust anything from West Africa, especially Nigeria. I like to  write the scammers back using poor grammar like:

Dearest Mizz Smith;

Much thanks for renewed interest of the items inside question. The dollars in the amount excess are unneededed. Merely please to sent the dollars in the amount 525$ via personal check <misspelled name> at
<address I know of>

Soon sounds,

Aaron
