A call (recording- not a live person) stating that the IRS had filed a law suit against me and that I was to call them immediately at the number listed.  But, suspiciously, they never asked or said my name.  Instead I did a Google search on the number and researched similar events.  And, no, I did not return their call.

Yep, same here...IRS filed a law suit against me, no name, etc. I am so scared.  LOL!!!!

And same here - about 3 hours ago. Knew it was a scam.

I called it back.  A recording asking for information and saying no one was available to take my call.  I did not leave any message and googled the number.  The voice in the recording sounded Australian or English.

It's a shame that there are so many scammers operating so openly.
Same as the last few posts - automated call, with scary-sounding recording.
Obviously fake, but how can we shut them down for good?

I received the same recorded message on wed. the 17th.  I googled the number too.  Never called them back.

Same issue. Left a message on my answering machine saying I was being sued by the IRS. DId not return call since I knew it was a scam.

Received a call today with "Private Caller" listed on Caller I.D.  Let it go to the answering machine.  The following message was left:  "Hello. We have been trying to reach you.  This call is to inform you that the IRS is filing law suits against you.  To get more information about this case file, please call us 206-734-4696.  I repeat 206-734-4696.  Thank you."

I got the same message today, 4-21-2015.  Asked me to call them.  My caller ID shows the original number to be 617-714-0762

Rec'd call from 225-406-3486 and they said IRS filing lawsuit and to call them back at 206-734-4696.  Sick of all these scams!

Me too they wanted my credit card info but could not tell me what I had done wrong. What a joke

Got the same message as above today....caller Id number was 225-460-3486.  But wanted me to call back at 206-734-4696... Sure I will get right on that !!!  (not)

Left message so I returned the call out of curiosity. I was informed that my taxes were audited between the years 2008-2013 and a shortage of payment to the federal government was discovered. I told them that I would verify directly by calling the IRS but he insisted I called the IRs directly. He had a middle eastern accent. I hung up without giving or getting any additional information.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Got this call too, like the others above. How many people are dumb enough to call back? The IRS doesn't call you! They have called my cell twice, & I'm really sick of getting all these scam calls! Caller ID just says unavailable. Well, so am I.

I have received 2 calls - caller ID says "Private Caller"  Same message as above - I did not return the call as I don't want a record of my phone number in their files.

The same happen to me I was being sue by the IRS they never mentioned my name left the recording with the number to call 206-734-4696

Had a call from them today came up on the caller id as 225-406-3486 but they left a message to call back this number 206-406-3486 called and they said they were from irs and i told them I worked for IRS and they hung up. they called right back to tell  me I don't work for irs. How the hell do they no what i do?

We tried to call 1-206-734-4696 back because,we wanted to tell them "LIARS LIARS PANTS ON FIRE! YOU WERE LYING! YOU OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!!!" but the line was busy.
