No its a scam

Huge scam, they will identify themselves, give you their officer number even if it's on a voicemail.

Excuse me, IRS officers will provide you with their name and officer number.

Did not give name. Very strong accent he said from IRS being investigated  for tax fraud. I told him this phone number is being reported to the police.

I called to have fun with them. Call back its a hoot of a scam. Gave them Bob Ubanks has name.  They said he owed 1400. I sent them on a goose chase for the money.

Awesome!!! LOL!!!!  That's exactly what im going to do!  Guy left the same message. Sounds Nigerian to me. I'm going to post the number on Facebook and call on all my smartass friends to let him have it!! Thanks for the chuckle "Mr. Eubanks", LOL!!!!

It's not really the IRS.

Caller had strong Indian/Middle Eastern accent.  Did not give a name. Stated they were the IRS and that I was being sued and my workplace is under investigation and that I needed to contact them immediately.  Should also note that they called at 5AM.  Based on my gut instinct and confirmed by the information I found here (THANKS EVERYONE!!) I DID NOT return their call.  I used the following link on the story from IRS.gov website (link to IRS.GOV story was provided by previous poster),  to report this call to the Treasury Inspector General.  https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml

I have received several calls from this number but I don't answer. I got a robo voice mail to call them back about my case file.

They called me stating they were a grant department and I had 14,000 in funds available

Been receiving these calls & threatening to arrest me if I don't settle with them. Claims to be with the IRS

yeah I asked them for that and he kept asking for my name and address and I kept asking for his officer number so he hung up on me. HA. I can't believe they think people are dumb enough to fall for it.
