Who are you?

This so called company that calls from the US Federal government grant department is ALL scam!!! This lady (named Fiona, Kristi, or Susan "manager; " whichever she feels like telling you) says that you have been selected to recieve $7000.00 from the government as a grant that doesn't need to be paid back.  She says that her company works directly with western union and there is a fee of $199.00 and within 15-20 min you will have your $7000.  Which is completely untrue, that 15-20 min that your waiting for a comformation call from a "higher authority" they are signing over your money to themselves and you will not here from them again.  Try to call the number back after this all went through and there was not one answer and then went to voicemail, then went to busy.... DO NOT DO THIS!!! PLEASE REPORT THIS NUMBER IMMEDIATELY IF YOU RECIEVE IT!! THESE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!!!

someone called me twice with a week about a grant that i quailed for 7000.00 and wanted account information. Told me to call this number 206-866-5571 and then gave me another number ne121. i want these calls to stop

I received a call from an UNAVAILABLE AND OUT OF THE AREA phone # this morning.  The person I talked to could hardly speak English.  She asked me how I would like to receive my $7,000.  I had a choice of direct deposit or cash.  I told her I wanted cash.  Of course, there was no answer at the above number.  This is my first scam but I was sure that's what it was from the start.  Thank you to all

THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, tax reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number,  or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Happened to me today too. got a call from "kelly"Said I got $7000 grant to pay for my school. gave me a confirm code K1304 and was told to call 2068665571 to get my money to me asap options of depositing on credit card, bank deposit or western union but either way I had to pay $210 to them. Luckily I looked in to it first they wanted me to pay $210 western union to verify my identity but when I asked certain info like who gave me the grant and who do I send money to they said they don't have that info and that I was to call them back as soon as I was walking through western union doors. This is a scam they will take your money and your [***] out of luck. This phone number and same story is all over the internet. None of them could speak english and everytime I asked a question about thinking they were a scam I was put on hold. probably while she looked up the information to say. she said their website was www.grant.gov well that was a true website but not theirs i called the number on the website they had no clue what I was talking abbout and said it was a scam. they only give grants to organizations and nver a individual. they told me where to report it. WE ALL NEED TO REPORT THEESE PEOPLE COME TO FIND OUT THEY ARE BASED IN SEATTLE WASHINGTON AND HAVE DONE THIS TO THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THEY NEED STOPPED GO TO.http://consumeraction.gov/.shtml to report scams and frauds of this nature

called said i have 7000 all i needed was to give them SSN: I asked Kelly shouldn't you have my SSN if your calling me about a grant!  She didn't have answer  I said if I'm getting a check just send to my address. She hung up!  Total SCAM

I got an out of area call from a lady saying that I've been granted an award of $7,000. Great, I applied for a NYFA grant in the amount of 7,000 and notification is any day, so I thought this was it. The woman had an Indian accent and then gave me a verification number and a phone number to call, which I did and spoke to someone, with an equal heavy accent, gave her my confirmation number and then got disconnected. She called me back and said I could get my money in cash, because I'm a responsible citizen and pay my bills on time. I realized that was not the NYFA grant and  I told her I wanted a check to prove a paper trail, to which she hung up on me and I haven't heard from her since. It is a scam. I hate people like this who prey on people just trying to get by month to month. How do we stop [***] like this? The number on the caller ID is 206-866-5571. They are claiming to be working with the federal governement. Hang up on them, curse them out, call them what you want. People like this are disgusting and I hope they can be stopped.

this number called me today sayin the same thing and her name was "shannon". Thank god i didn't do anything with this. Don't do it!!!!!!!!

I received a unknown phone call this morning about the same thing.  it was a guy which I could tell he was oriental.  he asked me how i wanted to receive this and I told him Cash.  I then had to call back with the confirmation number.  When I did a lady answered after the 2nd time trying to call and wanted me to go to a western union and put up 240.00 but that I would get it back after the Western Union was approved that I was the correct person.... wow.. I then proceeded to google the phone number and came to this page..

I received this call today came through as unknown, which I usually don't answer the guy on the line did have s heavy accent said I was approved for a $7,000 grant. He verified my name and address. Gave me a confirmation number and told me to call his sup with confirmation number. I did tht Shannon answered advised me to go to Western union with $233 to verify my identity and within 15 mins I would have the money. When I Hung up with her I Google the # and see all the post.. if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Smh. The scary part is tht these criminals had my name address and phone #.

I asked for cash as well just in case it was a scam so they wouldn have access to my accounts...what bothered me though was that they new my home addresss.....anywho once i asked for cash they gave me that number to call and no one answered smh

This same thing happend to me yesterday!! 11/7/11. I also said I wanted cash because I was not about to give them any bank information. Good thing more and more people are getting smart about these things because before I even called back the number they told me to call i googled the number and came to this page. Thank you to everyone for sharing your stories!!! Get the word of this scam out there!! If you have a facebook or my space or twitter put it out there so others do not get sucked into this scam!!!
