Yes, the IRS sends correspondence by mail,  like they have time to make calls, especially during tax season.

Another IRS scammer trying to get money. IRS only contacts you if you are being sued via mail.

That is a scam, and also in general, a call from the IRS is a scam (you may already know this) because the IRS always, always, ALWAYS gives you a letter.

Kerp getting a call from this number that says they are the IRS and I owe them money.

Third time we have gotten this scam call in a week.

Automated message said I was being sued by the IRS and that I had to call them at (206) 899-8561 ASAP.

Same people called me at 7 am saying I owed money to IRS i looked up the number quick it said it was from a cellco partnership verzion I called back and asked them where you located she said that's not your concern and hanged up

IRS robo call scam....Called yesterday and twice today.... something about a case file and if I want to know more I should call this number.

Scumbags, irs collecting debt. right... Stupid [***] pieces of [***]. Calling at 5:45 in the morning twice a day! Don't know how to make them stop....

ANOTHER IRS SCAM! They wake us up at 6am the last 3 mornings, and today was a new number with the same stupid message. When will this end?! We need to get a class action lawsuit against these scammers! Today's number was a Seattle number 206 899-8561  yesterday and the day before was a New York number 914-499-8211.  And the Don't Not Call website is a JOKE! They don't stop anyone from calling you.

Third day we received a call from this number at 5:45 AM. Same recording as the postings listed here, that we are being sued by the IRS.  Bad enough receiving robo calls during the afternoon and early evening, but to receive these calls at 5:45 in the morning is more than an annoyance.

This is the message that was left. "Please call immediately on our department number 206-899-8561. I repeat 206-899-8561. Thank you."

received this call too, robo call at 10:56am from Seattle, WA, stating I was being sued by the IRS and call the back ASAP.  SCAM!

Called at 7am PST robot call about IRS filing a law suit.  Had received similar calls from an Oklahoma are code previously.

Final notice the IRS is filing suite against me.

I received a CALL from this number 206-899-8561 this morning that went something like this: "This is your final notice from the IRS Internal Revenue Service … the reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you to get more information ..Please call immediately ... "    Also, I called this number 206-899-8561 back (Seattle WA area) back, and the man that answered me call insisted that he was with the IRS.   As far as I know, I have NO IRS issues whatsoever or even any outstanding requests from the IRS   So, I am assuming that this call and this message must be a SCAM ?  IF 206-899-8561 is a legitimate IRS number, please advise me.  This type of call constitutes HARASSMENT - especially when directed at the elderly.  Is there any other organization that I should be reporting this call to ?

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Call originated from Seattle. Did not answer called twice so far, just started. Said they are the IRS and have filed a lawsuit against me.
