Twice in 1 day came up as "Unknown" but automated message left this # to call back.  Automated said IRS is filing suit, to call immediately.  I knew it was a scam but called.  A guy with a heavy arabic/indian accent said "Thank you for calling the IRS".  I said oh this is the IRS, I got a call saying you are filing suit against me and I'd like some info about that.  3-5 seconds of silence and he hung up.  I would just hate for someone who has no idea to get in a mess with this.  IRS should be able to shut this down.

The IRS has no jurisdiction in INDIA or Pakistan.  That is where most of these calls originate.

I received a phone call on two occasions from an unknown number. In each case a message was left informing me that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and to contact 206-905-9480 to obtain a case number to discuss. I decided to call the number because I had not received any correspondence from the IRS and in my previous dealings with the IRS, I had corresponded via mail and paid my taxes accordingly. A gentleman who gave his name as Mark Brown informed me that I had a tax issue for the years 2008 - 2013. I knew this was not true. Once I challenged the validity of the information and advised that I had received no previous correspondence on the matter, the man disconnected our call. I called back and the phone just rang...no voice mail...no indicator that this was a federal office....no evidence of legitimacy. I am curious and a bit annoyed that they have my number. I'd like to know the source. I doubt they'll call back, but one never knows.

If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
• If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 800-829-1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
• If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
• If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov. Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.

I just got the voicemail today and returned the call and when I questioned the validity of the information provided, the Indian guy hung up on me.  When I returned the call, I get a busy signal.....  I am reporting to the FBI for further review.

I have received 4 phone calls from this number!!!!!

I just got my irs scam call today :) the number they left for me to call wasn't in service :( so i called the number on my caller I.d. The very thick accented individual for the middle east whose name is Rodger Wilson! lol with a badge # 481423 tried to convince me there was a case file and investigation out on me and that I had been contacted three times with someone actually come to my house, after refuting multiple times and  I asked him repeatedly how he got my number and how his operation works. He hung up on me. so i called the local police dpt. and they game the www.IC3.gov website to file a complaint.
