They called and hung up as soon as my answering machine answered.

Called twice in a row.  Hung up both times when my answering machine kicked in.

Called about an hour ago-free life alert recomended by American Heart association and kidney foundatio.FTC should know Card Services still calls me only does not mention the name Rachel. I am on the do-not-calllist- This one appeals to us old cronies! I just told myself, if it sounds too true to be real-it's not!

received a call from this number yesterday afternoon, while I was not at home, and no one left a message!

Yup this is some kind of scam. So much time invested in being a scumbag...

I got a call during school today but wasn't able to pick up, looking at this I should probably NOT call back, right?

The numbers are "spoofs" that cover for the real call.  These people are calling from out of state.  Sometimes it's "Florida," sometimes "New York."  I've also gotten calls where the caller ID says "Camden."

When you try to call back, you find out it is not a number that is in service.

Reversed the call and number was not available

I just got a call from this number at 8:58 PM.
I said hello a few times...no one ever responded.

Thanks to all of you for reporting your experiences. I also got a call from same number two times. I am going to lock that number.

WCSH channel 6 Maine is reporting this number as a scam.  Do not answer the call.  They are attempting to get personal informatio.

Still calling. If they know it's a scam and it has been reported to be so from channel 6 Maine then I would think they would be on to them to shut them down~! Geez

This telephone number calls my house three times a day.   They have been calling for the last month. When I answer they say nothing.  I have tried calling the number but it doesnt go any where.   How do I get them to stop????

I keep receiving a call from 207-331-3201 and then someone hangs up on me.

It's hard to shut down scammers. Even though the news reported that it's a scam, the phone number itself is most likely just a decoy, and NOT the number where the call is actually coming from. That makes it hard to track down without court orders to get phone records, and cooperation of not only the phone companies involved, but also many other authorities.
And, it costs money to do it, and time to go through with it. Money that news outlets may not have enough of to invest in, just to hunt down people making phone calls. The state can look, and probably is looking, into it, but since it is not directly or physically hurting people, it's not number one on the priorities list.
Yes, stealing people's information is causing harm. But, since they're not holding a gun to people's heads and demanding the information, or otherwise threatening people, no one is in immediate danger. This lets the state put it on the back burner to simmer while it deals with other issues (whether those issues are much more important or not is debatable).

"not a number that is in service" means the number is spoofed  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing  and your caller should be treated as hostile.

This number is seeking your personal info. Beware, do not take the call or call the number back
