i am selling fire wood u haul got a text asking what condition of item is gotta be a scam due to the fact i live in wa state and this area code is in maine why do people want to do this

Got a call from same number wanting to know the condition of tickets to a concert.  Very strange communication then they wanted my address.  Said they paid me through paypal, no transaction .  Be careful with anything from this number.

I have an Ad on the internet for a exercise equipment and all the information is in this AD such as, condition, must live in my area, cash only, no shipping, no texting or e-mails and cost of my equipment. I get a text (after stateing no texting) asking me the condition of my equipment. I told this person that if they read my AD they would have seen that It is in excellect condition. They text right back and said this....

"I will be purchasing this for $200.00. Payment will be sent using Pay Pal and I will handle the PayPal surcharge as well so send me your PayPal e-mail. I will arrange with a shipping courier company to have them picked up from your location once I have paid as I am out of town at the moment." I called the # she was calling from and it was an ODD recording and requested to say my name, I hung up! I know this is someone who is trying to scam me. I texted and told her back and told her if she is not in my area then I cannot do business with her but if she really wants to purchase this equipment then she can call me, no more texting. I have not heard back.

I am selling a power chair on Craig's List.  The ad talks about condition of the item, etc.  I also received a text message asking the condition of the item as well.  Here's the text that I received, identical to the post from 3/27/2013.

"I will be purchasing this for $1200.00.  Payment will be sent using Pay Pal and i will handle the Pay Pal surcharge as well so send me your Pay Pal e-mail.  I will arrange with a shipping courier company to have the item picked up from your location once I have paid as I am out of town at the moment."

An obvious scam.  I sent a text back that we don't have a paypal account and we're uncomfortable shipping out of state.  Thank you for your interest.

Same [***]. This number is a scam. As soon as they said paypal and courier pick up I immediately googled the number and found this page. Beware the number is a scam. It was a text to my phone.

Selling a hat and this number did the same to me. obvious scam!!! Beware of emails from INL.PayPal....

This is a scam.  I am selling a table and chairs,  they said they wanted to purching the table and would pay for freight.  Would pay through pay pal.  I received comfirming email stating that they where pay pal and that payment has been received.  I called pay pal to confirm payment, they answered back that no payment was no payment had been received. It appears that somehow the shipping are where they are getting their payment.

The confirmation email was a fake.  They hope you won't notice and will wire the money to the movers who are supposed to pick up the furniture.  You will have lost the money sent out and never hear from the scammer again. Or even worse, they will want you to pay cash to the mover when he shows up and you will have lost your money and furniture before you discover the PayPal payment was fake.

this person just text me about an item i have for sale on craigslist and the description says its a sealed perfume these people have to be stopped this is actually the 3rd person this week i got the first actually sent me a check for 2700.00 and wanted me to send back 2100.00  after taking my 600.00 the police fbi should be looking for these people

I received a text asking the condition of a pellet gun I was selling.  This person said they sent the payment. They continue to text asking me to check spam and email.  I told them that I deal directly through Paypal and not through email.  I asked them to send me a message via my email to confirm and they don't even respond to it. They then send another text asking me to check email and spam.  My Paypal notifications never go to spam.  And I rely on Paypal, not the email notifications, to tell me when I have received money.  So, obviously something not right here.  If this number texts you IGNORE IT.  If he sends me a fake confirmation, I will copy it and send to Paypal fraud division.

The "buyer" in the fake Paypal notice is Michelle Brook.  I got three fake emails.  They say she has sent me $150 (for a $40 item) that included $100 for "transport".  The transport company is listed as Millard E Tibbs Freight Company:

The deal is the funds are on hold (not really any funds, its a scam) and YOU have to send $100 via Western Union to the freight company.  So, its wire fraud, Paypal fraud, interstate fraud, etc, etc.  I forwarded the emails to Paypal.  I hope they get him.

He or she also tried to scam . But I couldn't under why was I paying for some thing I was selling. I what to thank  who ever came up w I th web site .

Me:Hello. My set is in good condition. The heads are have a bit of wear like any used drum set but they are obviously replacable. And like in the add this is a tiny spider crack on one of the cymbals that first came with the set, but it still sounds very nice.
I'm a hard critic myself when it comes to instruments, so overall I'm happy with the way it plays for being a starter kit

Me: I am creating one now. Can your courier come as late as 7:30? That is the only time someone will be around and I will need to make arrangements so my father expects this (I live out of state)

Them: alright..it is easy to set up www.paypal.com and let me know once ate you done with the set up

Me: (trying to be civil towards this persons sense of urgency) I'm currently at my job. This is something that can't be picked up today though because of the notice I need to give to my father since he lives alone. Earliest could be tomorrow, but I am thrilled for your interest and more than willing to sell to you. I will send you my paypal later today.

Him: alright..also you can take the item offline.

well it seems this just happened to me.Word for word what everyone else said.The urgency and shortness led me to check the number and found this site.Thank god for online searches.Someone needs to stop the scams.Luckily Im weary of a lot in this stupid world.Watch out for this one,theyll get you.

This was very helpful.  I always say what seems strange...is.  Said same thing.  Wanted to know the condition of the horse trailer I'm selling and pay with paypal only.  Out of town right now will send a currier to pick up.
