From an Air Duct cleaning service.  They sent and automated number first.  Isnt that against the law?

I spoke to an operator who claimed they did not know why I was called if I was on the Do not call list. I found their website. They don't have a contractor license listed and a search didn't turn up one either. Probably unlicensed contractors. Their website is http://www.californiaairduct.com/index.htm They also gave me a toll free number: 866-476-0090.

208-546-5583 (these a**holes are using a bogus out-of-area number-says Nampa, Idaho of all places)

Got this call. Offering free (FREE!) air duct cleaning with heater/AC check up.
From their website: "WE ARE MOBILE! WE COME TO YOU!" (as opposed to you disassembling and taking your system to them???).

Received multiple calls over time, each one leaving a voicemail message that began too soon and so may have blocked any identifying information. In the past, caller ID only showed "unknown name, unknown number" and the message offered the option to delete from the call list by pressing 2 (which is of course not possible unless you are online at the time, and so is worthless).

This time the caller ID said "IDAHO" but again no identifying information on the company. I tried calling back but the number just rang for a while and then disconnected.

I have reported the call to the FTC's DNC site; not hopeful that anything will be done about this company. I should not have to contact them to ask them not to do something they shouldn't be doing in the first place.

I cannot confirm Dominick's information but I suspect he's correct (thanks, Dominick).

Okay, everybody. It's my hope that more than one finds delight in my report. Got an automated message from 208-546-5583. They keep calling me and I have asked several times to be removed from their list. My cell is even listed on the National Do Not Call registry. So I decided to f*ck with them the way they've been screwing with me for the past two years +. Maybe you can put a spin on my following suggestion and have your own fun. Here's the idea in a nutshell:

When prompted by the recorded message leave a fictitious name and your phone number. Hopefully, you've got caller i.d. From my experience, someone from California Air Duct, or similar, will call within a day or two. Make a note of the number when they call back...you'll store it later in your phone memory with a label to know who it is.

Act happy to receive the call and listen to their pitch. Then the fun begins. Ask a few questions to feign your interest and book an appointment. Only give them a fictitious address...one with really difficult driving conditions like down town or in a cul-de-sac or similar street names that are off just a bit - like Drive, Avenue, Street, Place, etc...you get the point. Set the appointment for when traffic is at its peak. You can google addresses and then use "street view" to get an idea of the area and surroundings. After setting the appointment, the representative will close the conversation by saying that they will call later to confirm the appointment and verify things, so it's important to give a valid address  that's close to where you want them to go to.

Later when they call to confirm that everything is a go, say you're happy they called and close the conversation quickly. Then wait gleefully for the appointment. The day of the appointment you'll get a call from their dispatch office saying the driver can't find the address. Tell them you got things mixed up since you just moved and give them another phony address that's close to the one just listed. For instance, 712 E. Los Angeles Street quickly becomes 714 W. Los Angeles Avenue! You can drag it out as much as you want or until they don't call back anymore. Ah, the sweet smell of justice - sort of like rush hour traffic exhaust.

This company is a pain in the butt. Hopefully something comes of complaining. Doubt it but I'll also complain to the Do Not Call List.
