got a call, and they hung up

I am tired of getting calls from this number!!  All they do is continue to call and hang up!

The same, don't know who they are, called and hung up once my answering machine picked up.

rec'd a call from this number. same thing nobody there.

Yes, I answered, silence, line goes dead.  Are these people canvassing who's home and not home, and then selling the info' to criminals?  This is not the first time I've gotten these annoying ones.
I got another earlier with CID of  "NAME NOT FOUND 123-456-7890"    
It's easy to spoof caller ID's for there seem to be no regulations about that.Come to think of it, what about the "Do Not Call" list?   Useless, I've been on it for years, and get unsolicited garbage calls.

They told me it was some police charity and asked me to commit to the $25 or $35 donation package.  I think they just wanted my personal information, but the man sounded like a cop so it was intimidating.  I told him I had no money but I forgot to say take my number off your list.  If you dont say that then they just keep calling.  Sometimes they keep calling even when you do say that.  Everybody wants money. My number is not listed so I have no idea how they are getting it and I get at least 3 calls a day like this.

Called while I was out.  The call was sent to voice mail, but no one left a message.  Called the number back and all I got was some weird computer music.  Nor ringing, just the computer music.  What the BLEEP is up with that?
