Called me at least 6 times in the course of 20 minutes, said she worked for Windows and that they were getting bad information from my computer. Microsoft is the company that manufactures Windows, so this was clearly a scam, also I do a bit of tech support myself and i've had customers complaining about this call before. Huge Scam. Took down their phone number but after numerous attempts to look up the phone number or the company in the 209 area, i never found it.

Callers from this company contacted my wife. Tricked her into going to the www.windowtechnicalteam.com web site and clicking on buttons. Next their mouse was on her computer showing her all of the viruses Norton was missing and trying to sell her software. I found out later. What they did was disable her Norton anti virus and firewall software, opened a lot of files and I don't know what else. We are rebuilding the computer and canceling credit cards now. They have Indian accent. You were smart samtylr

I got a call today from an unknown number.  A man with a very thick Indian accent claimed that he was calling from Windows support and that my computer was sending out signals that it had some dangerous viruses.  If I was near my computer he could help me clean it up.  I told him that my computer is fully protected by Norton but he insisted that these are viruses Norton would not pick up.  I told him what he was saying did not sound right and that I needed to verify the call, could he give me a number to call.  The first number he gave me was 44 20 32 39 66 60 which I told him was ridiculous and not a real number.  Then he gave me 800-22 40 20 which I informed him was also wrong because it was not complete.  The last number he gave me was 1-209-779-5007 which he said was their U.S. support line.  I immediately googled this last number and found myself here.  Thanks to you all for posting.

Just got a call from these guys(12097795007) and told me my computer was infected. Wanted me to do a bunch of stuff on my computer. I told him to F*** off and had some fun arguing with him. He told me he was going to call the police and sue me and then send people over to my house. I kind of wish he would come to my door.

Just got that same call.  I argued with the guy for a while and then told him to explain to me what the problem is and I would have my IT guy take a look.  This Indian guy tells me that most of the drivers on my system have stopped working. Never went to the website or even touched my computer while talking to him.  I just googled the 209 phone number (which came up as unknown) and found myself here.  Thanks for posting this info - I'm really glad that I didn't fall for it.

I just got a similar call telling me my computer was sending out multiple error messages and that they would try to help me resovle the issue. They directed me to their web site, windowstechnicalteam.com where I was supposed to download a file. The site has no windows icons so I started a web search and found myself here.

Call is an attempt at computer fraud and a scam.

Caller claimed to be from Windows Technical Support,  (209) 779-5007
located at 102 East New York Street, Aurora, IL 60505

    http://windowstechnicalteam.com

Caller asked me to download software onto my computer which would have allowed them to take control of my computer. Call is an attempt at computer fraud and a scam.  "Windows" does not call customers nor direct them to alter their computers.  Numerous complaints on this number are documented on the web.

I just received a similar call.  I asked him what IP address was sending the bad data and he did not have my ip address.  The accent is very heavy and he was very difficult to understand.  I have a vonage number with a Denver prefix but I am in Mexico.  At first I thought it was the Mexican cable company so I asked him what company he worked for he could not answer.  My computer is a Mac so I knew no Windows support was needed!  He wanted me to go to www.windowstechnicalteam.com  When I googled that I found this site.

Total scam. They called today, I googled them while on the phone. I told them their site was down. They told me to search again and their site magically reappeared. Hang up on them and don't waste your time!

The same thing happened to me. I led him on a bit to see where he was going with his spiel, then told him that I had to make dinner and would call him back. He gave me the same number. He was very difficult to understand. Said his name was Thomas. with Windows Technical Team, 1 209 779 5007. When I asked him why his caller ID said "Anonymous", he stated he was calling through the internet.

I just got a call from this number. A man, Alex, with an Indian accent, claimed my computer was sending a lot of error reports and that they would come and take my computer unless I did what he said. He first wanted me to visit www.windowstechnicalteam.com. I asked for his number and told him I would have to verify who he was before I went to the website. He gave me 209-779-5007. I contacted microsoft technical support through the official www.microsoft.com website and was told that this was a scam. Microsoft does not contact customers unless as a follow-up to a customer request for help. I haven't contacted them in years. Do not go to the website. Do not allow them access to your computer. Ask them what the problem is and then contact microsoft support directly, if you are worried.

I just received a call from person claiming to be a windows tech, said they were getting error reports.  I had my
msn email hacked a few weeks ago and managed to get that cleaned up.  He said he was calling from Illinois, but when I checked and found this 209 area code is in California, got suspicious and hung up.  They tried calling back
but I didn't answer this time.  Dodged the bullet on that one.

A Windows Technical Team representative called me with great concern of the many errors being reported to Microsoft as evidenced by right clicking on my computer, and left clicking manage, event viewer, create custom view, checking critical, warning, and error boxes, right clicking on one of these and trying to delete it. According to him these 'errors' were caused by a virus which had also removed the delete ability and he was there to fix it at no charge before I lost my computer.
Questioning his authenticity I got his name Peter Dawson (who spoke with a thick Indian accent), his telephone number - 1 209-777-5007, his e.mail - support@windowstechnicalteam.com, and his address in Aurora, IL. The only way to verify all this was to go to his website at www.windowstechnicalteam.com gain access with a User Name - 'memberadmin' and Password - 7894 to get to the home page. There he asked me to click a continue arrow which prompted me to inquire why Microsoft Security Essentials thought this may not be a good idea and did I really want run or save AA_v3.exe (709KB) from www.ammy.com which would have gladly installed RemoteAccess;Win32/AmmyyAdmin. I told him I needed more confirmation this was all legit and would call him back shortly.
DuckDuckGo promptly located this site and information for which I am grateful. I should have known better than to go to his website let alone click around on it, but I did. I very quickly disconnected my Internet connection and ran a quick MSE scan, rebooted, updated, and ran a full scan with no bad results.
I feel this lengthy observation and warning to others is the best action I can take.
I hope he is still waiting for my return call........but I doubt it.

They called twice yesterday. First time, it was my wife who was concerned. I answered the second call and told him I didn't think he was legit. He said I was going to lose my computer shortly. We live in TN

My Mom recieved a call from this number on 7/6/12. They used the same Windows Support line & computer being infected will all types of viruses and offering 5 years of computer/virus protection. Of course she believed them. Went to the website & paid them the $130 (which of course went to a Paypal account for a foreign person). Thankfully she told me about it & now working to get computer cleaned & accounts closed. I called this number back. Never got anyone. But the next day they were calling me every hour! Be ware....MAJOR SCAM!
