Called asking for someone with same last name. Sounded fishy

Called with my neighbor's name and house number, claimed they were "looking through the phone book" and got my name, and noticed I lived on the same street but would never tell me why, then threatened me.

Called asking about my neighbor across the street then wanted to know if we participated in the neighborhood watch.

Called with my neighbor's name and house number, claimed they were "looking through the phone book" and got our name, and noticed we lived on the same street and wanted to know if we knew their phone number, but would never tell me why.  Then he wanted to know if we participated in the neighborhood watch.  My wife was unnerved by the call, so I called the number back.  I reached a man who said his name was Jonathan Cruz and that it was a business, but would not tell me what kind of business.  When I threatened to report the call he said go ahead and offered to let me speak to a manager.  He then transferred me to a voice mail.

Called me at 1:50 pm today .. exactly the same call. Trying to trace a neighbor and used the name Jonathan Cruz.

The easy way to do this is the same way I just did....call the guy back and say this is his neighbor and we are watching him. I had the guy all flustered. I am like is this Jonathan Cruz and I said, come on guy, we all are watching you and we know you are from Monteca, CA...just be careful, because we are all watching you...and then he hung up.

UNSURE OF THE REASON FOR CALL, CALLER WOULD NOT GIVE REASON FOR CALL.

Called and wanted money for Virginia Taxes but wouldn't tell me the detail of what year.  I told him I would check it out with the state and will pay the state if I owe anything.  What state would send you to a collection agency for $145.

They Just called me asking for my mom, I told them she was at work and the [***] who says her name was "Julie James" proceeded to ask for her work number.  I asked what company she worked for and she said "Uhh, I dont know what it stands for" Collection agencys don't call you at work, and always present there company name.  They are like the mob from what i read on other sites.  Scary!

Caller left message like she was someone who knew us. Said she was "Shirley something" (I couldn't understand her as she spoke quite fast) and she named my husband & myself, then said she needed to get in touch with our 25 year old daughter who lives 400 miles away from us & named her as well. When I called her back, it was obvious that she didn't know us and when I refused to give her my daughter's phone #, she became rude & threatening. She wouldn't state why she needed to reach my daughter, but she knew how old she was. When I tried to get her to spell her last name she hung up on me. The caller ID was for this DCS Inc. in Manteca, CA, but the phone # is one digit different then others are getting called from.

Caller identified themselves as Liz, said she'd gotten my name from the directory.  Said she was trying to get in touch with my neighbor hadn't talked to him since March (It is now August) and they weren't answering their phone. Was everything ok?  I hardly know my neighbors - I don't even know their first names and she's talking like their old pals.   I say I can walk over there and have them call you back, what's your name again, she gives me here whole name Liz Quintaina - forgive me with phonetic spelling of last name and i can call her back at work DCS 1 800-866-5317 x3580.   I do a reverse lookup on that number can't find anything and only when I do a lookup on the number on the caller id do I find this site.   My neighbors aren't home but I am not calling her back.

I received a call today from a woman saying dcs and the caller id was manteca,ca.  number was209-858-3989.  She said I have a tax bill from when i lived in VA which was 20 years ago!!!

I just came across this... I just received a phone call from 209-858-3500... a lady called herself Denise looking for a someone who lived on my street.  She left an 800 number to be reached... 1-800-927-7667 ex. 3539.  Said call anytime.  But there was something in my guy telling me something wasn't right, and I went searching and found this page.  WEIRD to say the least.  Who are these people???

My husband received a call from DCS In--the last 4 digits the ph # 3546---she said her name is Sandralina looking for our son and daughter who live in a different state-this company needs to be investigated and fined for harrassing innocent people.

Called looking for 2 individuals with the same last name as mine.  Caller identified herself as a rep of DCS, Inc. and said she was investigating a "private" matter.  A reverse lookup idenifies this company as a debt collection company in Manteca CA.  I'd never heard of the two individuals for whom she was searching.

Calm down everyone, I understand how scary it can be to be called by different people who are acting like they know who you are with all the correct information like your name, and familys name, phone number. I live close to this company where its located in Lathrop, Ca about 5 miles from Manteca, Ca. It is a Collection Service office, they call people who have unpaid student loan, basically anyone who has been sent to collection.. Next time you get one of their phone calls simply ask what is it that they claim you or your family member owe.
