- KJSteelers| 1 replyLeaves threatening messages. Posing as a attorney, no such law firm exists in San Antonio. Goes by the name Richard Hoffman and claims to be with Tim & Davis Legal Associates. I call the state bar of Texas and they have no such record of either Richard or the firm he claims to represent. Same guy heavy foreign accent.

- jjYes I kept getting calls too. I finally told them that I knew this was a scam and that they were nothing but a bunch of crooks and to stop calling me. Then I slammed down the receiver. We will see if they call back. What really pisses me off is that they call my cell and my work phone. I wish there was a way to get rid of scammers. This is ridiculous
- JPThis number 210-202-4106 has called my work and my cell number today. Threatening me with jail. Has a lot of my personal information but thankfully I closed my bank account a few weeks ago. Threatening me with federal charges if I don't pay them money. Not sending money to someone who can not tell me what I owe for!
- Caller: Tin and Davis legal
- BDMy girlfriend just called freaking out because she recieved a phone call from the same guy threatening that law enforcement will show up at our NEW home address or her work and arrest her for theft for a loan she got back in November. We can prove that she never recieved a loan in November. The man wouldn't tell her who the loan was through or how much the original loan was for, nor did he give her an option on how to pay on the loan. I have received calls like this before so I knew to google the number. Thank y'all so much for your posts! It jas helped calm her down and ease her worry. Guess the scammers have found a new number to call from!!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - d giovanniGuy presented himself as Officer Harry Cooper stating that he had an emergency legal matter. Wouldn't provide any additional details. Asking for money on some bogus file number. Did not present company name.
- Caller: did not say
- Call type: Prank
