    Which means you're either A) a shill or B) a doofus, or C) both.

    Will Microsoft ever call me?

There are some cases where Microsoft will work with your Internet service provider and call you to fix a malware-infected computer—such as during the recent cleanup effort begun in our botnet takedown actions. These calls will be made by someone with whom you can verify you already are a customer. You will never receive a legitimate call from Microsoft or our partners to charge you for computer fixes.

Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you're using.

Once they've gained your trust, they might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a website to install software that will let them access your computer to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information is vulnerable.

Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the call from this scammer.  It is impossible for anyone but possibly your ISP or a tech support company that you are a client of and has installed special monitoring software to know that your computer is infected with viruses or malware.  Anyone you do not know who calls claiming they are receiving error messages from your computer or that Microsoft has informed them your computer is infected is just a lying scammer.  Even Microsoft cannot tell if your computer is infected based upon the error reports that you allow to be sent to them since they only report on errors in Microsoft's software and do so anonymously.

You are so full of bovine manure your breath stinks worse than two month old curry left out in the sun.

You are a low-life shill.  If your computer won't turn on how did you make this post here?  Also, are you illiterate?  I can barely comprehend your English.

Your computer does have the CAPS LOCK virus however.

I got a call from the same Mr. Brown claiming to be from Microsoft, saying that they got an error message and asked if I realized that my computer "windows" wasn't working correctly in the past two weeks. He attempted to direct me to my computer but I stopped him before he could continue and told him to shut up. My computer has been working fine of course, so I told him that I wasn't stupid and he better take my name and number down. I called him a dumb, stupid scammer and to get a legit work. Don't fall for that scam!

A man just called from this number to my cell phone asking if I was aware my computer is not responding to Microsoft and it needs to be repaired.  I responded and said that I am aware that this is a scam, told him not to call back and hung up.

Kevin Jones of MicroSoft calling me to report my PC is infected with the virus of the worst kind. I may verify his employment at 210-519-6126 with MicroSoft. Isn't this something??? Claiming MicroSoft have equipment monitoring my IP addresses and noticed I have virus (I have got to say what a service that I have not paid for) and needed my help immediately to rid my PC of any virus (guessing is also gaining a route for them to access my PC too). Wow. How can i refuse, a free service call from MicroSoft to help LITTLE O'me to give my PC a malware cleaning service. Ask him which IP address they detected virus, I got a router IP address, very general. Ask to see if he know the path of the virus. He send me to his manager. Still was told can only give me the path and file if I have my PC turned on so that he can instruct me through. I told them I have already got my PC turned on. However, when he told me half of my MicroSoft products should not be functioning. I ask which half and what products. They hang up the call. End of my call....

Very interesting to read the posts regarding this number. I received a call from them late this afternoon. Sounds like they're quite a piece of work, especially masquerading as a Microsoft employee. Just another number to add to my Village Idiots contact list...just another interloping opportunist who's donned a dunce cap and discarded their ethics into a purifying cesspool.

Received a call from these shysters this evening.  A man with a strong Indian accent claimed I was having problems with my Microsoft operating system.  Funny thing is, I am on the Mac platform.  They had my cellphone number but he would not or could not tell me the name associated with that number.  I called the number back after he ended the call.  Caller ID indicates it is somewhere in Texas.  A recording prompted me to leave a message but their voicemail system wasn't taking messages.

Very similar experience to what has already been reported, guy with Indian accent called and said my computer isn't responding to Microsoft updates, and "those updates are necessary to keep you safe."  Said they'd been trying to contact me online for weeks (I've gotten no such solicitations).  Asked his company name, and he said something I couldn't understand, and that they were licensed by Microsoft to fix this problem.  When I asked him how he got the phone number, he said he got it from my ISP provider.  Problem is, he called on a number my ISP provider doesn't have, confirming my suspicion of a scammer.  I kept him on the phone a bit just to find out more about his scam.  He was obviously planning to take me to some website and "fix this problem," where my computer would have been infected instead.  Jerk.  Never trust anyone who calls like this.  These chumps are everywhere.  This one wasn't very convincing, but some scammers are much better.  Always update software and accounts by independently going to the software manufacturer's website, and then only if you trust them.  Don't click links provided by anyone, even when they claim to be that company.

    1. Get a dictionary.
    2. Look up this word: sarcasm
    3. Go back and read that post again.

Yes the all-caps is annoying, but not as annoying as people who rant and rave when they don't know what they're talking about.

They have called me several times. I never answer the calls since I do not know anyone in Texas that would be calling me. I have my own tech guy and if I have a virus he can usually fix it!!
