Please do not call this number and report it if you constantly get called. I contacted my branch directly and they stated that it was fraud and to not provide any information.

I have received two calls from this number in the last hour, including one just a minute ago. I think they are the same overseas scammers and/or so-called Collections office for Chase. I have been getting a lot of calls from 1-800-424-5004 over the last couple of weeks and it seems like they are using this number as well.

As with 1-800-424-5004, this is an auto-dialer and if you do not say anything when you answer the phone, the auto-dialer will hang up within about 3-4 seconds. if you say "Hello", then some Indian-accented person will come on the line within a few seconds.

I have read hundreds of posts on various boards about the 1-800-424-5004 number and have read conflicting information about whether it is actually Chase or not. Some have said yes, others no. There are even conflicting stories from Chase raps themselves. Not to mention that in 2006, 5 data tapes containing over 2.6 million customer names were lost by Chase. That, along with so many people starting to get these calls about a month after that happened, makes me very, very leery.

If you call back and can actually get through, the automated system (which does not identify itself) will ask you to enter in your whole account # and then a person will come on the line and ask for your FULL SS#. This is what makes me lean more towards these people being scammers, as a legit Chase rep would have that information right in front of them after the account # is entered.

Even if it is Chase, harassing people at all hours of the day or night is not going to endear people to pay any sooner.

Report them on the do not call list, let them do the explaining!!

This is Chase! 210-586-0006 and the 1-800 number are both Chase Bill collectors.  Also if you pay your Chase bill it will take them about 48 hours to take you off their auto dial list so you will keep getting the calls from these rude Collectors that all have thick Indian accents and are completely obnoxious.  Sucks to be behind in bills but it really does if you have a Chase account.

Two calls this morning before 9:00 am - no message.  I didn't answer either call.  As a rule I never give out my SSN - I usually say - "You should have it in front of you - is there anything else I can verify" and legit people ALWAYS say "yes, of course".

I'll ignore them I guess.  I don't even have a Chase CC!  :)

Thanks for this site.

I've received 7 phone calls since last night.  Four messages of nothing but background noise with one of them saying my name at the beginning. I don't answer nor do I have any Chase bank accounts.

To report back, this is indeed Chase. I talked with the CSR (who was very professional) and set up a payment with them. (I am over the CC limit at present) He had all of the correct information, including balance and the only thing he asked me for was to confirm my home address, which they generally do in any case, even when I call them.

Also, after getting this squared away, the calls have stopped completely. So, if you are behind in your Chase account(s), I would call them and get things straightened out if you want to stop these calls. Otherwise, they will keep hounding you non-stop.

I also have been recieving calls up to 8 or 9 a day from this number, but no one has never left a message - and as a rule I will not call anyone back without knowing who they are and what they want first, to avoid getting scammed - Thanks a lot!

I got a call from this number, and since it was 8am on a frickin Saturday, and I was asleep, I didn't think too much of it; they had my exact balance, the checking account number that's attached to my credit card, etc... so I went ahead and made the payment. I got worried when I hung up, and called back the number. A lady picked up who authorized herself as being from Chase Bank only when I asked her.

So I immediately hung up and called the number on the back of my card. They couldn't verify the number, but they said that the payment amount that I had authorized had indeed been posted to my account and was processing; should be done in a couple of business days.

So it's not a scam number!

ALTHOUGH this might be relevent to people who have a Chase Card. They charge 15 bucks to process the payment over the phone, which the person had carefully neglected to tell me. When confronted (before the payment was authorized), he hesitantly told me about the 15 bucks, and when I said I was going to hang up and pay it online, he waived the fee for me.

Although this number has been verified by me and a couple of other people, my advice is to ALWAYS make your payments using the number on the back of your card; or online, or by check, etc. It's better than to put yourself through the uncertainity of finding out who called you, and if it was a genuine number. If you get your account up to date alternatively, they'll either stop calling you, or you can tell them that the payment's been taken care of.

I receive about 15-18 phone calls a day from this number.  They start at 8am and dont stop till 11:30pm.  I personally don't own any credit cards and they call my cell phone.  When i answer they say uh hello ms. then wait about 2 minutes then say my last name and then they go on to say "while trying to pay your card your bank account info and routing number were lost can you please give these to us.  Also please confirm your 9 digit social security number and your 5 digit postal code"
when i ask what card they are talking about they just say "your card your card" i find it funny because i do not own ANY credit cards and never have.

sometimes when this number calls it has a + in front of it

Keep getting these calls, all times of the day, requesting to speak to my husband then his wife when I say he isn't available.  The person is a male voice with an accent, but most of the time there is no one there and I just hang up after answering.  They tell me to call 800-732-4173 about an issue with our card.  When asked twice, 'What card?' they answered 'Chase'.
