I get calls like this every week. They ring twice (our answering machine setting) and leave no messages. NOW they are calling on the weekend. My back is killing me and I am waiting to hear from two doctors. I am in bed and hear the phone ring. I hear nothing. I go to the machine to check and hurt myself more only to find there was no message. I dial Star69 (which doctor called?) and hear the number of my last incoming call was 210 677-3600. I called it and heard it was a 'courtesy' call from Citibank (WHAT COURTESY?). It tells me to call 800 627-3999 with any questions. I call and get New Delhi and when I ask why you called me, no one knows. I ask for the American side and get Texas. After I am identified I start hearing the balance in one of my accounts. I say I didn't ask for that information and she proceeds to speak louder AND over me saying that is what the prompt asked for (but ignore me). I say you know what let me speak with your supervisor. She (now) gently asks why? I say because you gave me information I did not ask for (it was private and I could have been on an open line) and when I questioned it you proceeded to speak louder and over me. She laughed (next time I guess I will not respect someone's question and provide an answer) and said OK, sir. When she said the supervisor was on I asked if she would stay on the line with us. After hearing that she asked her supervisor if she could disconnect. She was told yes. I asked the supervisor why did you do that? I wanted her to hear my comments. The supervisor said she would note the issue and file the complaint. I asked for the representatives ID number and was told she closed the notes so I can't see that now. I asked what location she was in and was told Texas. I thanked her and found out she was in Texas too. I said this is not the first time I got this reaction. I am not sure if she was controlling, or had an issue with men, but I have mentioned this before and been apologized to about it and am not going to stop dealing with my bank because of it. Also, we don't need ALL such telephone service contracts going oversees, do we? I said I felt her reaction was not professional and inappropriate. I don't feel I have an agenda and don't appreciate the conflict. Now, my business.
I told her what happened with the call. I asked why did Citibank call me? The supervisor asked if I had opened a new account, or had unusual activity on my credit card. I said no to both questions. I added that if I did, I did not give permission to any vendor, or bank to bother me on the weekends about it. She told me that department wasn't even open (yet an auto dialer is set to call people at home, on the weekend and about WHAT). I asked her if she would handle both issues, or if I had to write a letter about it. She assured me should would and added my number would be put on a list and not called anymore taking effect in two days. I asked her to understand my position and how I felt. I was upset and this was poor timing. I did nothing about the other calls, but this was too much. She was gracious and handled my call well. TO: Citibank,
Please keep your commercials telling us to relax and not worry about money ONLY to harass your Gold customers at home, on the weekends by telephone. You are giving me another reason/motivation to dump my land line and I don't need you to decide that for me. Leave us alone. On top of it I spent long distance (from New York) to go through all of this nonsense AND one doctor said he kept hearing my number busy and the other called much later ALL because I was concerned about any problem with my bank. By the way, why doesn't the auto dialer ever LEAVE A MESSAGE ON THE ANSWERING MACHINE?
