- Sarah| 1 replyI received a call from these people today claiming to be from Microsoft tech support. They claimed that many computers in my area were being attacked by malware and they were going to help me clean my computer.
At that point I asked them for their name and number so I could call them back.
The person claimed their name was Kevin Jordan and they worked for Tech-optimizers at the following phone number 210 767 3298
I have no idea if they are a legitimate company or not, but it sounded like a scam to me.- Caller: "Tech-Optimizers" Microsoft corp.
- LynnWest replies to SarahI just got a call from these people as well--same "guy". Indian guy with the name Kevin Jordan? Whatever. Anyway, come to find out, it IS a scam--did some research while I was on the phone with him and he was trying to tell me that it was a problem. Said that he wasn't trying to sell me something, but I've read stories that this company is bogus. Definite scam!
- RHad same call today - Indian sounding person claiming name as Eric Wilson - same company "tech-optimizers' - I'm in Calgary.

- SherryAlso just received a phone call from Tech Optimizer (different phone number 1-510-943-3040, and have received several calls from strange areas codes over the last few months, I finally answered one). I asked where he was calling from and it was India. Said they were calling on behalf of a research company in my area where they received several complaints with computer problems (malware). He wanted me to turn on my computer (I have several, ha) then go to event view and search for errors. When I asked how they got my number he could not tell me. I was suspisious from the beginning (I work in Information Technology so can smell a scam). When I told them to remove my phone number from their calling list, they hung up.

- chrisJust got a call from Brad Jones (Indian fella) from the same 210 number. Said he got my name and number from Windows. Said he had to run a check to see if I have corrupt files. Told him I was fine and asked if he was trying to scam me. He said I could speak to one of the senior techs to fix the problem. I told him I had to run and asked for his number so I could call him back. He said that it would only 7 technician to fix my computer. I told him there was nothing to fix and hung up.

- Concerned CanadianThis is a scam number for "Tech-Optimizers". They get an inital person to call you up and check your eventvwr logs and tell you there are problems with your windows PC. Then they get you to open IE and put in www.ammayy.com and speak to a "senior supervisor". That's as far as I got with them because I had an "emergency" and got the number to call them back. I asked where he was calling from and he at first was evasive but then told me India... so he gives me his name as Alex Smith and his number as 210-767-3298, a number in San Antonio? Nice try, scammers.

- Ricky FosterMy aunt also got this phone call from 3298 and the person actually used remote desktop connection and even scammed credit card information from her. She isnt the type of person to make such a mistake but prior to the phone call her MSN and Hotmail accounts and even ITunes was blocked out due to a message from Microsoft and Apple saying your account has been blocked because it was sending large amounts of SPAM. So she thought it all made sense. I think somebody such as Microsoft should investigate this and punish those responsible to the fullest extent of the law. If you have any problems please send me an email to ANONYNEWFIE@GMAIL.COM with your full name, address, IP Address, Debit or credit card information and expiry dates. Haha just kidding, look me up on Halo Trial instead.

- MicheleI have just received a phone call from Brad (with a strong indian accent) at Tech Optimizer saying they are the company authorized by Windows to help me determine whether my computer was infected with a "very recent virus" new within last 3 weeks. He asked me to push the "windows" button with one finger and at the same time, push the "r" button.
I told him I was not going to perform these actions and that I thought it was a scam.
I pulled up this site while I was talking to him & read the previous posts. I believe I was correct in hanging up on him.
The number he gave me was 210-767-3298- Caller: Tech Optimizer
- DavidA fellow sounding like "Apu" called earlier today regarding Windows. I confronted him as a scammer, demanded to know his full name, employer, address of employer, and full name of his supervisor/manager. I could not understand his dialect, therefore did not bother to write down the name of his company, nor whatever fake name he was ready to quote. I will be reporting 210-767-3298 to the BBB during regular business hours, as the number was obviously not immediately traceable online being that it's a US based number. Tech optimizer my [***] ! The quicker he goes back to driving a Taxi, the better for all involved....
- Caller: Tech Optimizer (Decha?)

- thank youi got this call also but being "unknown number" simply did not answer it. I keep announcement and vm off so no annoying messages can be left either.
- Jennifer MayerReceived repeated calls from them. I always hang up after their initial spiel but they call back all the time. They use the same number so maybe something can be done.
- youyouyouReceived call from this number, but we no longer even pick up the phone unless we recognize the number or know the person calling. Sad that it has to be this way; but if most people did this, perhaps telemarketing would disappear. At least, private numbers could do this. And then there would be no need to repeatedly complain about or report numbers (like we're doing now). I check a few numbers now and then, but seldom comment like this. JUST DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE!!! They will get the message about my number - we don't answer. [And if they don't leave a message, all the better!!!]
