Got a call from this number. Did not answer since I didn't recognize the number and don't know anyone in this state. Did not leave a voicemail either. Anyone know who this is? Just posting this for others,

I got a call on my cell.  Didn't recognize the number and didn't answer.  No message on voicemail.

Called, left no message. Do not recognize the number. 212 is NYC exchange.

Just got a call from this number on my cell. NY area code. No voicemail.

This number left a voicemail for me... it's the same message as a lot of other automated sales calls for Security systems, the voicemail was only the tail end and didn't have company (probably ADT though)

I didn’t answer and the caller didn’t leave a VM.  My experience has pretty much shown that if the caller ID says “State”, USA it likely a spoofed caller ID.  This one was NY, USA.  It is now blocked.  Irritating....I have likely dozens and dozens of blocked caller ID’s now thanks to spoofing technology.  Does no good to stop them.

... when I do answer... I get a message about a security system....I hang up before getting anymore info....it is a pain..

i did not pick up ....they did not leave a message ...i called the number back it just kept ringing then busy signal.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

I just got a call from the number, tried calling it back but said their was a large calling rate.

Called ID says: New York

Automated recording that says it's not a sales call and that I was referred by a friend or neighbor for a free wireless security system. At that point I hung up.

Who is this?  No message or anything.
