Just another spam call trying to tell me that my medical alert is ready to be shipped.  Try to call back -- no answer.  Obama's DO NOT CALL service is about as good as the rest of his administration policies.

Since the DO NOT CALL registry was implemented in 2004, I fail to see how it is "Obama's service" in any way.  The law is just not adequate to deal with the technology available to today's scammers.  Anyway, it was never intended to deal with crooks in the first place.

If phone carriers actually wanted to stop robocalls, I think they would be eliminated pretty quickly.  Probably won't happen though because I'd guess they make money on both ends of the calls - providing service for callers, fees for call-blocking, etc.

Phone companies are "common carriers", by law.

That means they must allow everybody to use their services, unless the company is notified by law enforcement that the user is committing crimes.

So, the phone company cannot universally block a number merely because YOU complain ... however, they might give you the ability to block those calls to YOUR phone.  Even better, you can protect yourself, by using a call blocking phone, app or other device.

Do not depend on others to enforce rules or policies YOU invent!  Protect yourself!

I don't get it myself. But you could come here 10 years down the road and people will blame whoever is in office.

We also had a cal from this number - in our case, the caller ID name was strange: V121111147000 , but the number was 212-281-0731.  Glad we didn't answer it - they hung up when it went to voicemail.

Id showed Verizon, when I picked up voice said your medical alert is ready.This sucks now I don't want to answer any calls.

Since they start the message with "your package is ready", they don't fall under the do not call registry. It's the same criteria as the political survey scam that tries to sell you a bahama cruise upgrade from a "free cruise" if you take a two question survey.

The called, got my voicemail, hung up. Caller I.D. says "Verizon," --- with the comma. So they are not identifying themselves as Verizon. They are Verizon comma.

I always listen to the pitch and then press "1" to  speak to a live person.  When they say hello ask who they are
speaking to, I don't say anything and just stay on the line until they hang up.  This is a waste of their time and most
get upset and some try to say something negative in an effort to make you talk. I never talk and it seems to upset
