Heard someone say "Hello? Hello?" several times on my answering machine. The "caller" was "DIR ASST NY". I'm guessing it is the outfit that says there is something wrong with your computer and they can fix it. I saw an elderly woman on a TV News show who got conned by this ploy. She gave the caller her credit card number to pay $10 to "fix her computer." She somehow noticed in time that money was being drained from her account and stopped it. It was a profound lesson.

Yet another out of area solicitation.  We don't answer out of area calls where we don't recognize the number or area code. They always hang up after the call does to our answering machine.  I am going to block 212 area code as we do not know anyone in New York City.

This number had called me 5 times. I made the mistake of answering. A guy with a foreign accent told me I had a computer ready to be picked up in santa ana, ca when I told him I don't have one he asked me my age. I told him I don't understand why he needed to know. He still wouldn't answer me and continued to ask. I had to hang up on him. Creepy. I wish there was a way to stop this from happening.

I've received 2 calls in the past 45 minutes from DIR ASST NY. A man with an accent said he was with Windows IT Support and that my computer had been sending error messages to Windows. "It's not a virus but corrupt files are in your computer. We here at Windows are just trying to protect our customers." He asked me to open my computer. I told him, "No thank you" and hung up (the first time). The second call I answered and said "No." I won't answer any further calls from this number. Think they'll get the hint? Again, the answer is "No."

Unwanted solicitation

I live in the area code of the caller stating to be a {?} help center. I just got a call from them at nine this morning. The caller had a deep accent stating that my computer was sending error messages to Windows. I told him that my computer had been packed for shipping three days on route as it wouldn't be picked up on the USA's west coast and connected until Saturday. Still blabbering away after my comment, he just couldn't accept my answer, so I hung up.

One pm and a second call comes along from the same so-called company as my husband grabs the phone from me upon hearing the loudly spoken accent. Questions was put to the man aggressively under the heading of who / what / where / why / when without answering the man's questions. The man got pissed off and hung up.

getting calls from this phone # often.  Also, from 937-250-0254 (dayton, Ohio). Has been going on for 5 months. Always the   same spiel...Weendows??   I asked to be removed from list many times.  Once the guy told me he could put me on a "do not call again" list if I would send some money using western union.    More recently he told me he would put me on a "do not call again" list if I would   K...his  A...?  That was a slam the receiver down moment and I've learned not to answer ANY of these calls.  Looking for a way to get these "guys" slammed.  Don't think there is anyway to stop this. I'm angry

They call and say my computer was hacked and I need to log on right now before they block it.. etc... I hanged up

Called twice today and left no message

Play along with the losers and give them some bogus code when they ask to connect to your PC after about 20 minutes of trying to school you on meaningless babble.  I wasted nearly 25 minutes of some losers time.

This number has called everyday this week, several times a day.  I never answer because I rather hear the phone ring hear what they have to say.  

I've had too many calls from this number saying that they were from Microsoft and they had found problems with my computer. Of course they can fix the computer. I have asked them to stop calling me at least 5 times and even asked for the supervisor. In the last 2 days they have called 6 times and I would like it to stop now.

They are calling from VOIP phones overseas and routing the calls through somewhere here in the US.  Simple solution, if it is not in your local area code, just don't answer.  That is why we invented Caller ID and voicemail in the first place.

I received two calls from this number, the woman had a heavy foreign accent and insisted she could help with my computer issues.  I told her we have a family member who works in the IT world and they could fix it.  She called back saying she could fix it, my computer was hacked and the issue needed to addressed now.   I said no and hung up.  How can I get them to stop calling?

The 555 prefix was a red flag.  This prefix is normally reserved for lines owned by the phone company.  Ever notice that all phone numbers on TV and the movies begin with 555?  When I answered I could here a phone ringing on the other end.  A voice with a clearly Indian (as in the subcontinant of Asia) accent claiming to be from "Computer technical support" said there were problems with my computer.  I asked which one? He said all of them.  Clearly a scam.

Please stop these people from calling! They are very persistent and even keep trying when I have blocked their #. It is very rude and annoying. These people should be located and locked up!
