I was sued in NY by Mel Harris & Assoc. on behalf of LR Credit regarding a credit card.  I hired a consumer lawyer and we won my case saving me thousands of dollars!  If you are sued by them don't do nothing, get help like I did.  I know people who did nothing and now they are having their bank accounts frozen and wages garnished by collection agencies.

Paula, who was the consumer debt defense attorney you hired?  I was just served a debt collection lawsuit by Mel Harris & Associates.  I live in NYS.

These people called my number months ago, asking for some other person that happens to have the same last name as I do.  When I told them to stop calling my number (and using up my minutes!) they turned very RUDE!  They said they would remove my number, when now, months later a different person from this firm is calling my number again!  And again, they turn rude and are annoyed when I let them know that their calls are unwanted and they  have the wrong number!  They think they are so slick by calling any number that appears with the same last name and lie saying the person they are looking for had this number before I did, when I've had the same number for 11 years!

I hired Attorney Jason Shear in Buffalo.  We got the LR Credit case dismissed.

I got a call from these people and I didn't even give them this number, it's unlisted. These people are losers because they didn't even show their name on the calller id. They can't even leave a message on my answering machine. TRASH THAT'S ALL THEY ARE!!!!!!!!

Who did you use for your attorney?

They claim to be Mel Harris debt collectors, but block their number. They intrude into your private space. My experience is similar to the other descriptions and reactions, given above. Its as if they didn't know the World is drowning in debt. My take is that Mel appears to have had a complex infancy, troubled childhood and early adult transition. He's exploitative and greedy. Psychosexually conflicted and unlucky in love. He appropriates misfortune for himself, He's part of the problem.
