The ONLY purpose in the medic alert for seniors scammer's calls to us, is to get our credit card numbers, so they can cheat us!

How can we block these calls.  I am so angry at this very moment. I hate them.  I think it is a medical alert which I do not need nor want.

I asked that exact question several years ago.  I followed the advice I was given and am now pretty much scam-call free (not entirely but pretty close)  I purchased the Panasonic KX-TG7873 which allows one to block up to 250 numbers.  Whenever I get a scam call (which I NEVER answer) I just push a few buttons, enter the number and no more calls from that particular caller - EVER.   In addition to blocking the number you can program the phone to not ring when that number is calling you.  It will show up in caller ID but will not bother you with any rings.  This phone system is one of the best consumer friendly devices (of course, that is just my opinion).  I purchased an "open box" set from Amazon for about $75.  New ones run about $100 with free shipping.  Money well spent to bypass these bloodsuckers that disturb our peace.

I do not answer my phone if I do not recognize the phone number so I leave it up to my answering machine to pick up. No message was left.

Best way I've found to eliminate this aggravation is to get a call blocker device.  I got one for around $50 called a Pro Call blocker.......stores around 1000 numbers, all you have to do is hit the blacklist button for any calls that come in (has caller ID display) or just manually enter them.  Lots of other devices out there, best money you will ever spend for peace and quiet.

This must be the day for scam calls as I have gotten about 5 in a row.  This one starts as a recorded message.  I didn't let it play through and just hung up.  Of course, they'll probably call back.  I'm going to look into getting one of those phones that allows me to block calls from certain numbers.  That'll be fun.  

Number 212-662-1393 called my home telephone Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:25 am.  When my answering machine activated, there was a dial tone but no message. When I tried to call 212-662-1393 back, an automated message stated that the number is not in service. I am on the Do Not Call list and will continue to report all unsolicited calls to the Federal Communications Commission.

This is a recording advertising to seniors that they are eligible for a free security system.

Do not call means do not call. And certainly means do not call and hang up.

Just received call from this #.  Ans. mch. picked up and it was static. These unwanted scamming thieves are invading our privacy and it's got to stop. Do Not Call List is a big joke because it does not protect us from this.

I actually answered the phone as we have relatives in that area code. But no, no friends/relatives. No one answered the phone when I picked up. We're SUPPOSED to be on the "do not call list"; yeah, right.

The telemarketing scammers seem to be on a feeding frenzy today.  Phone has not stopped ringing all morning.  Just got a call from this one.  No ID, no message.  Simply ongoing aggravation.

Recd call from this number today. I did not answer and they left no message on my answering machine.
Caller ID reads this call as "New York."

Got a pre-recorded message from 212-662-1393 promoting a medical alert system and $1,000 in free coupons; "press 1 to hear more, press 9 to disconnect." I pressed "1" but got disconnected. Next time I'll try harder to stay on the line and find out who they really are.

Simply says "New York" on caller ID, but when I look up the number without hyphens, I get all Russian results.  Suspicious.

Another day, another hang-up call. So sick of these medic alert scam calls. They keep resurfacing from all different numbers and area codes. We're not even old enough to need these devices, so WTF? As always, will report this to the DNC registry.

I also got the call, but it was at MIDNIGHT....this sucks.  A also called back and got the same recording that this number is not in service.
