Some guy says he's calling from some mortgage company on behalf of the Federal housing Authority and then the line goes dead. Why is there no protection against these calls?

212 791 7719 calls me.  I do not answer unknown numbers so ignore it, but s/he leaves no voice mail.

I got a call from 212-719-7719 with some guy asking me if I wanted to refinance.  I'm so naive, because I started explaining why it wasn't a good idea for me given my situation and explained a little bit of it.  Then he hangs up on me.  Does anyone know what he's trying to do.

These guys call then act like they have a bad connection and hang up. Then they call right back and ask for me using my actual name. I don't know what they are up to but it needs to stop. I have it recorded on my caller ID.

This number keeps calling my work phone.  They either leave no message or leave a hang-up voicemail.  I've never actually been at my desk when the call comes in.  I've tried calling the number back, but I get the "I'm sorry, this number is out of service" message.

Have had similar scenario to Tiredofit.  They call every single day.  It's usually a hang-up, one time a man, another time a woman.  Someone make them stop.  If they wake me up one more time I am going to choke them through the phone.

Called me for 3 days straight. Just says "New York NY " on the caller ID.

this number keeps calling me and leaving no message.  When I dial the number back a recording states the number is out of service. Very annoying.

These [***] keep calling our house. They must be scamers, but how are they scaming us if they hang up and dont even talk to us?!

They keep calling and calling, this has been going on for months now every day.sometimes I answer, just want them to loose my number, most of the time, they hang up, but twice now, they say they  have a bad connection and call back then they hang up

Ok here is how it goes, 212-719-7719 call comes in I answer he says "hello          hello         hello          think I have a bad connection" (tactic to get you to the phone) I hang up immediately the phone rings I answer and he asks for me "by first name" I state "TAKE MY NUMBER OFF YOUR LIST" he replys "yes Miss blah blah" I hang up.

Good luck to all - I hope for their sake they have done what I asked.  I get these calls every day numerous times a day.

They call my house then my cell and Im being charged for the calls.

same as above. they call, leave no message and when i call back i get the out of service message. what a pain!!

caller ID said 212-719-7719, they called and said they could not hear and then hung up.  I called back the number and it has an out of service message so this company is clearly trying a scam in my opinion.

This number called and the guy on the line said, "Hello!  Hello!  Can you hear me?  Hello!"  I hung up and he called back and then hung up.  What is the purpose to this?  I called back and the number is "Out of Service".  ??

I called Verizon and they said to put our number on the Do Not Call list.  I said it was harassing, and they said first do that.  What a**holes at Verizon!  They can't even control their own numbers??

if you answer the phone, it verifies that it is a 'live' number, and they then sell it to other call lists. verified live number lists are worth more

Same call as everyone else, My guess is its an automated dialer that most telemarketing companies use.Most are voice activated, so there is a delay in the time that you answer and the call is actually delivered to the telemarketer. Most telemarketers have an hourly call quota to make .The bad connection is just one less person they have to talk to and get credit for the call,

STOP answering numbers that you DO NOT know ... they use the number when you answer to verify through REVERSE LOOKUP to get your verified name and address. They can then call you back and use your name, address, telephone number .... they are SCAMMERS they are ALSO IDENTITY THIEVES .... for those of you who give personal information out GOOD LUCK .... start checking your credit and GOOGLE your name etc ....

I have been a victim of Identity theft since 1998 and once you are hit they never stop YOU MUST BE PROACTIVE ....
In fact just discovered someone right here in the city I live in using my name and address .... reported to the Police today.

AGAIN STOP answering and/or calling back numbers that YOU DO NOT KNOW !!!! And if you DO GOOD LUCK !!!!!!
