Female caller, Indian accent, said her name was Michelle. Said she was with Microsoft calling about my computer and that it was sending information out it should not be.  Told her I was an IT professional, knew she was not with MS and that it was a scam. They will try to get you to either pay for antivirus software (thereby gaining your CC information) or send you to a malware-infected site to download software.  DO NOT DO IT.

Just received a call.  Said he is from Microsoft and that my Windows computer is broadcasting messages and he wants to help me.  I Use a MAC and the Caller ID was bogus.  I played along, and when I finally called him out he got very rude and obnoxious.

Received a call from a lady, didn't catch her name, said she was from Microsoft. Sounded like she was from Indian descent. Said she wanted to help me with my computer. I asked her to remove me from their calling list and she said she couldn't do that and as a matter of fact was going to put me on the call back list. I asked her one more time and she said no and then she got very irate saying "you [***], you [***]".

We are on the DNC list.  Phone rang at 8:04 a.m.  Man with an Indian (i.e., from India, not Native American) accent.  Don't recall if he gave his name, but said he was calling from the Windows Support Center of Microsoft.  Said they had already sent us emails about an infection on our computer, but we had ignored them, so our computer was still at risk.  I said what computer are you talking about?  He said, "Your home computer with the Windows operating system," with no specifics.  He kept asking me to get on the computer and he would step me through fixing the problem.  I was suspicious and just said, "Well, send us another email, and we will look into it this time."  After a couple of iterations, he agreed to do that, and hung up.  He was very polite.

I am virtually certain that he never asked if he was speaking to [my name], which is the first thing a legitimate caller would have done.  He definitely did not ask if [this] was my current email address.  So almost certainly a scam artist, presumably just calling random numbers.

My best guess is that he intended to have me go to a "Microsoft" web page and enter personal information, and/or click on a link with the intent of getting my personal info.

P.S.:  You folks need another Call Type -- "Scam."  I just left this one as "Unknown" since it wasn't any of your choices.

I don't answer my phone from unknown or blocked numbers.

Just a reminder to everyone. Big name companys won't call you to fix your problems unless they are returning your call.

You can go to FTC.gov and input any number for breach of do not call list and it works. It has stopped so many calls I can not even count them. I had one call me 12 times a day and after using FTC.gov it all stopped. They changed their number and called me again with same pitch and FTC.gov stopped that.

Received a call this morning.  As others have said, it was a man with an Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft.  I played along with him as he tried every trick he know to convince me my computer had issues which only he could fix.  When he finally realized I wouldn't bite, he became rude and started swearing at me.  I hung up and he promptly called back and started his swearing again.  Hung up a 2nd time and that's it, no more return calls.  I filed an FTC complaint, hope it will do some good against these scams.

Same story as all of you ...

A man with an Indian accent called, asked for me by name. Said he was from Microsoft and needed to help me fix an error on my PC. I asked him which computer and he said the home computer. Told him I didn't have a home computer and then he hung up.

Got a call today from a lady with foreign accent - Indian or similar, as the others above. I could only understand every couple of words but she said she was from Microsoft and my computer has a virus (or something) and she could help me and I should go to my computer.  I said no and please take me off their list. She started yelling at me and said did I want my computer to crash? I said again, take me off your list. She said she would not do that and would put me on the "call-back" list and would call again and again and again! She hung up before I could say what I wanted to say!

I received a call today from this number. I was working on a computer using Microsoft apps, however I was at a friend's house who does NOT use Microsoft apps, and it came in on his phone. The caller was male, with a Far Eastern accent (China, Japan). He told me he was calling from Microsoft and that my computer was sending error messages to them. I was a director fo IT for 10 years. Knew this was a scam. I told him MS would never be calling me like this and he started speaking in very bad English, very quickly, so I hung up on him.

I just received the same call from a male, he said my computer was sending him a message and he could fix it. I asked him who he thought he was talking to and he said my sons name. I was an IT Director for 18 years and knew he was full of BS. I told him the Microsoft would never call me in this manner. He started to get rude and I said he was nothing but a [***] trying to get information from my computer. He was mumbling something I couldn't understand, I told him to call back when he could speak English. He hung up! He was up to no good,

i got the same call, went to my pc, followed his instructions to the point prior to entering the run command he was going to have me do.  then i said, if i enter this then what!  he said your pc will crash and he hung up.

i have a masters and bachelors in computer science so i didn't mind finding out what this so called expert from ms was going to be about.  what i don't understand is what is the point his call?  he was trying to get me to run eventvwr.

i have an app on my smartphone that lists all connected devices on my network and only my known connections were listed.  so, he was not lurking on my net.

    i don't see his purpose.

    Annoyed
Just got a call from this 212-777-8457 number. A man with an Indian accent told me that he was from Microsoft and the call was about my computor. There was a lot of noise on the line and then the line got cut off. I found this very strange and so looked up on my computor for any info on this number and well behold - a ton. So don't answer any questions and do not ever go to your computor and follow his instructions. This is very annoying.
