Something like 85% of debt collector calls are legitimate.  If you are in the 15% then it's unfortunate and if they don't stop you have to go through the trouble of threatening them and reporting them, and then following through with it.  Most of them will leave you alone if they think you are serious about the threat.

If you are in the 85%, just pay your bills.  If you choose not to live up to your responsibilities you have no right to complain to others who either are responsible or who simply cannot.  If you cannot live up to your financial responsibilities take action, declare bankruptcy and start over (also not fun, but at least you are in charge and the calls will stop).

In my experience, most people who do get these calls are, unfortunately, deadbeats.  If we resurrected debtors' prisons the world would be a better place.

Got a calls everyday the past week from 1-212-920-8660; calls around the same time twice a day never a voicemail when I did catch one of the calls their was static on the other end then a pause almost like it was automated then connected when a live person picks up I ask what they want quote ' we are trying to reach you- heavy accent..." -BS! Speak English! I really think these are scammers I just got this phone number assigned after moving in and registered for the do not call registry it seems afterwards my phone keeps ringing. If this guys are legit first off they should follow proper greeting their name who they represent and know who they are calling and leave a voicemail with said info.

They called me 2 times today 3:07pm and 8:48pm. I answered the phone both times and the person on the other end hung up. I called them back and all I got was a busy signal. Cowards call people and don't want to talk. I have some choice words for them. I added their number to my block list.

If you have verizon wireless you can log into your account and block the number so they don't call you any more..

My sister in law passed away.  As we have to maintain the contract on her cell phone until October, I've changed the voice mail on her phone to inform callers of this fact and give my cell number if it is urgent.  Since then, these calls have come in.  Guess they did not hear the part that she is deceased.

Now that I know this is most likely Chase, I'll answer and inform them of the credit life insurance she had on her credit cards...

I answer and they hang-up.  I have no business with Chase, so I have  no idea who this is.  They called at 8:30am just to hang-up when I answered.  Strange!

You're an idiot. I have great credit and no accounts with Chase or owe them money.  They call my business all day and tie up the phone line.  In this economy people may owe some money they borrowed for food.  Families are losing their jobs, homes and cars.  Nobody should be harassed like this.  So shut your stupid mouth and know what your talking about before you open it.

212-920-8660 keeps calling my cell number asking for someone I've never heard of. I than put an app on my phone called call confrim. Now my cell doesn't even ring. It hangs up on them and anyone else that I have black listed.
