- Paty| 5 repliesBogus Indian sweatshop has called me at least 50 times asking for the same person. Sometimes they leave a threatening voicemail that the person they keep asking for has had legal complaints filed against them. It is all BS with unknown intent. These crooks should be shut down.
- Caller: F9C7
- Anonymous| 1 replyCaller has called once a week, for 3 consecutive weeks, and has never left a message. Calls are made at night, around the same time that I get repeated 'unknown' calls (probably from the same caller). Unknown calls calls have been persistent for 2 months. The calls come in anywhere from 7am-9pm, any day of the week...
- Anonymous replies to Anonymous*I have never answered a single call... If they don't leave a message, it's important enough.

I dont know a Gwen Marie or had a old in law by that name. This lady didnt even make sense when she talked. I think she just tried to sound legal and official when she called. I'm not even going to call back. TOTAL SCAM - AndreaThe caller left a message said I going to be taken to court due to fradulent checks. I check the return call number given, it was for a scam related to the same topic...
- Mikevoice message left for me from this number:

either a legitimate caller with the wrong number, or a total scam
since the same number seems to used for check fraud court proceedings, Idaho legal proceedings, Indian sweat shops, and Utah asbestos centers, I'm going with scam- Caller: "NCS"

- guest 1 replies to Paty| 3 repliesI got 2 calls from them this morning, leaving a message at both my office and on my cell, saying charges have been filed against me and they will be coming along with law enforment to my office or home or wherever and they will be leaving in the next 2 hours. And they end the call with you have been notified. They don't say what it's about or anything. Those threats are totally against the law to begin with. I want to file harrassment against them but I am not sure where or how. Does anyone know? Thank you.

- Alfalfa replies to guest 1| 1 replyThis is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

- Victim| 1 replyGot a call advising that my husband needed to call and pay for his defrauding a financial institution to avoid further criminal action against him. Also advised they would show up and home, work, and family member's houses till hes located. I really am hoping but doubtful of their showing up at my residence. Though I'd welcome them with open arms. Firearms that is! I can't believe the government allow these a$$holes to pull this $hit!
- Call type: Debt collector
- Tamianth replies to VictimThe government isn't actually letting them get away with this. Its been pretty clear that they are breaking the laws, but it takes time for the government to catch up with them. Filing reports as mentioned under many of these same style extortion calls does help! FBI, State Attorney generals office as well as the FTC, BBB,FCC..
Some of these calls are not even made from the US though. Some are spoofed calls and calls from foreign country's. If they originate outside the US, then it becomes a international problem and unless that country is willing to work with the US then they continue on..
Do read through some of the other threads here.. real eye openers as to this extortion racket going on! Also do read up on your FDCPA rights and states rights and follow through with the filing of reports & complaints to the Federal and State authority's
