A man called me from this number claiming to conduct a survey about radio stations that we listen to. Is that the claim that you get?

just called and hung up.

Whoever this is is really beginning to piss me off. They call every other night around 9 or 9:30 pm. That's at night! When I'm usually either asleep or getting ready to be. I put my number on the national do not call list about 6 months ago,but these jerks obviously ignored it! I will be reporting them to whoever the proper authorities are!

I have been getting calls from this number too. I live in L.A (south bay area) and they call every few nights. just called at 8pm on Friday. Not going to answer it though

This call just came to my house and I answered in my most chipper sunshine voice, "McDonalds store 2237, may I help you?"

The lady paused and said, "Oh, I did';t know it was a business." and hung up.

this number calls at least 2x a day..the last one was tonight at almost 9. i just let voice mail to pick up the call.
no message tho. I guess the do not call list does not prevent these  annoying calls.

Who ever it is...calls 4 times a day.

They call every day and never leave a message or they just  hang up.  Today I picked it up. He paused a few moments before he spoke so that I was about to hang up.  He sounded young and  African-American. He said, "we're conducting a radio survey from Los Angeles as to which station plays most in your area.  What station do you listen to"

He already had my address and my last name and then asked  my first name.  
I said, "where did you get this?"
He said, " from the DMV where you go to register for your license."
I said, "I didn't think they would give that out,  what do you need all that for?"  
He said, "to verify that you live in Los Angeles."  
I said, "I don't live in Los Angeles."  
He said, 'You don't?"
"No," I said.  
Then he said, "but you live in California?"
"Yes."
"Oh, bye." he said.
I wish I would have asked him who he was or who did  he represent, I just wasn't ready!

Yes get calls all the time and this 213-226-7747 just started. Forget about the national do not call list.  Don't leave anything up to the goverment to solve anything.  Just take a look at what the government did on Monday, they pulled the plug on DNS program.

It's not the Gov's responsibility to run those servers forever. Each of us is responsible for removing malware off our own PCs. The Gov and internet security companies have been warning for months this shutdown might happen so you cannot blame this one on the Gov.

Called around 6pm saying it was a survey. They asked about radio stations and wish ones I listen to the most, around what time I listen to them during the day and wish type of music did I listen to most.

They call several times a week.  They don't say anything when I answer and don't leave a message when the machine picks up.  I have called the number and it says if you want to be put on the Do Not Call list to call the number it gives.  I would love to talk to someone so that I can quiz them!!!  If I do get someone when they call I, too, will pretend to be a business!!!!

Don't have voicemail on home phone but this number called at 5:13 PM today.

They called me last night at 9:30 and again today at 2:45. They have called a few other times but I didn't note it. One time my husband answered and said, "sure I will answer your questions if you will give me your home # so I can call you at home while you are trying to relax so can ask you a bunch of stupid questions". The lady just hung up.

Interesting posts re; this number. On my caller ID it was listed as "Bank of America". They left no message, (what a surprise), so I researched them out. It is a number located in Reseda, CA (Southern L.A.) and comes back to a business called PAETAC, now a part of another business called Windstream.

This group is just one of dozens of such businesses who set up inter-connectivity for anyone who wants to "mass" advertise via "mass" phone calling. As you might expect this number is not their actual business number but one of numerous ones they can use.

Think of these "businesses" as legalized con-artistry. They are the telephone version of the email spammers who use mass-mailing to email addresses that are routed so as to not go directly back to the original source.
Unfortunately, there are three truths about these people and only one way to deal with them. The three truths are:

First, there is no such thing as a "Do Not Call" list, at least in the regard that it's there to stop these people from harassing you. "Do-Not-Call only works with reputable businesses who sign on with them. There are the rare case or two where the spammers use the same number too many times and the DNC may send them a warning. But the numbers change so much it is hard to track them all down. Oh, and the DNC wants a whole lot more complaints against a specific number than just the few you see on the internet.

Second, there is no way you can stop these people from calling you primarily because they're randomized to the degree they don't even know who they're calling. When someone answers or calls back, you are then routed to an operator bank where they try to sell you whatever it is they're selling.

Third, and sadly, the most prevalent truth is that many of us get all this harassment because a significant number of people are fools who will listen to these people and buy into whatever it is they're selling. As such, these spammer-scammers don't care who doesn't respond to them, they only care about the "marks" who do. To them, if they throw out a thousand phone calls and one person bites, they've had a good day. But the fact is, a lot-of-people bite...which is why they continue to be in business. If no one ever fell for these cons, the incessant calls would stop.

Finally, the only way to deal with these calls without giving up or changing your phone setup is to "block" their number. This is becoming such a big problem today that many phone manufacturers are including "call block" if you are subscribed to a service with your phone provider. My old phone (Panasonic) only had 20 call block slots, but my newer Panasonic has 250.

So, when I get these calls I check the number, find out it's junk, and block them...and it works great. One ring and they are disconnected. This not only works for telemarketers, but for all the unsolicited political garbage you get during election years.

Anyhow, these are my thoughts, hope this helped some of you who are frustrated over these jerks.

My caller ID said "Bank of America".  Normally I don't answer because I know why they are calling (to see if I want a new mortgage with a lower rate...I don't).  Today, however I answered.  I spoke with two very poite guys and one of them was a home loan officer.  Before he started on his "spiel" I told him why it would make no sense for me to get a new mortgage.  I did this without providing any personal information and he asked for none.  He listened, agreed with me and said good-bye.  Hopefully they will record that in their computer banks and not call me again.
