called i didn't answer, left a message and it was just hold music
I called Dell's customer service dept to find out if this is a legitimate Dell warranty - and they do in fact have 3rd party vendors that they use to extend your warranty.
I was concerned that someone was accessing my information. Hope this helps all of you that get this annoying phone call.
Are you sure this isn't a scam? I say this because I've been getting calls from this number too but I DO NOT and NEVER HAVE owned a Dell. In fact, I would never even consider buying a Dell because well, they aren't the best computers...Anyway, I totally think this is a scam.
Dell USA calls my house at least 3x a day and often after 9PM. When I try to call back the line is busy. I do not want them to call again. They don't leave a message and when I pick up, nobody is there. The number is 2132288970.
Well, fortunately, I gave them a number that allows me to BLOCK callers as spam. But, thanks to you all for the heads up. It was pissing me off not to know who the hell was calling me from CA.
We have been getting calls from this number multiple times a day. They hang up after only 2 rings without leaving a message. When we answer in time there is no response. The caller ID says it is Dell calling, and my dad thinks they are calling about the new laptop he purchased from them to help him with setup or whatever. But I don't think so, if they were calling for setup and help, wouldn't they call long enough for us to actually get to the phone? Or leave a message with a missed call? Sounds like telemarketers to me.
I got the phone call too and I know its Dell because I used to work for Dell for 3 years. Dell is just calling to see if you will add on to your warranty it's not a scam or identity theft thing, just annoying. I was also sent a letter from Dell asking me to extend the warranty as well a week ago. As for people who get a call when you didn't even buy a Dell I'm pretty sure someone purchased a Dell and put your number down as theirs by mistake or put a random number down so they wouldn't get any calls but that number ended up being yours. Hope this helps everyone.
call from Dell computer, telling me that the warranty is going to be up on my computer. They called 3 times today, and 3 times I told them, the dell computer I bought was a gift, we are not interested in your warranty, please quit calling. We'll see if the 3rd times a charm. Very annoying.
I reached this board b/c I googled 213-228-8970. It had hit my voicemail about five times over the weekend.
Just purchased a Dell a few weeks ago. The telephone number that I gave them for this purchase and it was the one that they have and used to contact me over the weekend. It is my work telephone number that is not recorded anywhere in my name. It would be strange/coincidental that I was targeted as opposed to others in my office whose numbers are within the same range and only I have purchased a Dell over the last months. I did not speak with them, so I don't know what the sell would have been.
Sounds like this is a telemarketing program by some call center designed to lure one into purchasing a warranty (extended, etc). Dell must have given the call center a list of people (along with contact info) to do some telesales. I do not like this practice by any organization - makes customers feel like prey. Do companies realize how bad they come across when they do this especially when people are so vulnerable to identity theft today. I prefer to deal with people who work directly for the company - not outsourced for peanuts. Talk about a breach of confidence.
So, even if you are on a do-not-call registry, I imagine that since you probably have some history/connection with Dell, they have permission to call.
When I saw "Dell" on my caller ID, I was ready to blast whoever was on the line for their REALLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I received an empty carton that should have contained a new keyboard and mouse. Customer service adamantly insisted that since the opening of the carton was past the 21 day period during which customer complaints can be resolved, nothing could be done!! Even the service rep's manager gave the same tale. The Attorney General's office in our state said there had been similar complaints about Dell's service. I'd love to know if there is anyone at Dell to whom this grave disrespect for customers can be addressed?
umm this number has called my house twice in a couple hours but not saying anything and its like a creepy computer noice like a robot but you cant understand what it says and then it just hangs up.... Its creeping me out, why would they call...
and im typing on a dell laptop right now.... wierdd.
