SCAM!!  Tried to order 12 bottles of Cristal pay over the phone with a credit card and have UPS pick them up.  

tried to do the same in my store in oklahoma

Caller stated name was "John" will not give last name. Tried to do the very same at the liquor I work at. Gets rude when asked to come in to the store and present card for verification.

He tried to place an order of some VERY expensive champagne by phone with a credit card....BEWARE !!!!!!

As soon as i told him that i could order it, and he told me he would order it over the phone with his card, i told him he needed to come in so i can look at his ID with the CC. He then hung up.
Me being alittle upset from that, and saw this website stating he was a scammer....i called him back, and slammed the phone down on him.

Gave the name John Adamm at the liquor store in Wenatchee, Washington.  Tried to order a case Dom Perignon with credit card over the phone and have UPS pick up. He also wanted to split the order into two transactions. I refused to process the order and made a police report.

John....you're an idiot, and need to get a real job little boy.

have received this same call several times, most recent being tonight..didn't catch his name but story is the same

Yep, "John" is at it again.  Tried to order a bottle of Cristal at our store in Illinois and have UPS pick it up.  I told him I had to check on the price with our sales rep.  He wanted me to call them right then and he'd call back in 15 minutes.  Then he said he would call at 9 a.m. today.  I got his number so I could call him back.

Just had the same exprience in Litchfield, Illinois. "John Adams" wanted over $5000.00 worth of Don Pieron Champaign  gave me a D.O.B. of 06-28-64 and a IL DL# of A035-382.  When I informed him that was not enough numbers he hung up on me.

Asian man called my store in Rhode Island trying to buy expensive champagne with a credit card and said that he would have UPS pick it up. Hung up on me when I told him that RI is a no-ship state. He has tried this 3 times so far.

My experience was exactly the same as those above.

tried to order Cristal, followed with changing his mind, opting for Ace of Spades.
I quoted him two DRASTICALLY different rates for a 6 bottle case and 2 6 bottle cases, he didn't even notice.

He was able to provide cc#, expiration, code on the back as well as billing zip code.

He asked that it be shipped out of state, to Michigan, and appeared very upset when I tried to verify shipping laws to stay in compliance. It occurred to me that he should be shopping locally, with a quicker return time.  He rudely informed me he had shipped from NC before.  While I checked the legalities, I read other experiences here, and decided to inform him the card was declined (It had not been run yet). He did not appear surprised on the phone, verified the number, and decided he would call me back by the end of the day.

He called me back and attempted to use another card, adamant that I make two transactions on each purchase to fall under the $2000 limit per transaction. His story was he moved and the card with the more recent expiration date was his "old" address.

I called discover to verify both cards, the owners of the cards were contacted as the information did not match.

His name, according to him was "John Adams"
I was given the same DL# as above (A035-382) but with a Maryland issuing state.  
the DOB he gave was 04-04-1958

He asked me what he should do when I informed him that I called discover to verify the transaction, and they declined. I informed him that I always suggest that you shop locally, that they would probably have a quicker turnaround time, as well as he would have to contact his bank to verify his information.  He asked if i had attempted to call about both card numbers he had given me, and was adamant that I should just run it through instead of verifying, and hung up on me.

I suggest that everyone be hesitant when a large order like this comes to your telephone from an unfamiliar guest. I have had similar calls every holiday season when I worked restaurant, as well as retail.


 

Same request as all of those listed above.  Once I looked the number up on Google and saw these posts, I told the man that I would not be able to fill his order.  If someone calls in and orders a case of Cristal and is willing to provide a credit card number, the order is probably too good to be true...

I received a call today from Mr. John Adams wanting to order 2 bottles of Cristal Champagne.  The phone number indicated the number originated out of New York and when I questioned him about calling from New York, Mr. Adams said that he was in town for the Holidays.  I checked on the availability of Cristal Champagne and neither of my suppliers carry the product.  Mr. Adams called back and decided to change the order to Dom Perrion Ace of Spades Champagne and this time he wanted a full case.  Mr. Adams said he would pay for it by credit card and then have UPS pick up the product.   I told Mr. Adams I felt uncomfortable about doing a phone transaction and I was not interested in the sale.

All the same stuff from Mr. Jon Adams... he was quite rude when asked any questions and upon telling him of our shipping and purchase policies he cut me off by hanging up. Beware!!!
