- Jan| 11 repliesSomeone called me this morning claiming they were from the U.S.Treasury legal department (213) 293-3920 and wanted to talk to me about an impending issue in my name. First of all he had a very heavy Indian accent, the Indians from India. Second of all he could hardly speak English. I said ,WHAT DO YOU WANT? He said could you hang up your speaker phone. I did then I said, What? He hung up on me.

•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so. - Camille| 1 replyI received a call from this number today Man stated that he wanted to talk to me about legal matter.
called the number back from my phone number at work. He stated that his name was Robert Matthews
and he was calling from Legal Affairs US Treasury, said that there was a warrant for my arrest for back
taxes. I told him i didn't owe any back taxes and he stated that there would be officers coming to pick
me up. I then looked up the irs.gov website and found out that there are tax scams ongoing.
tried calling the number back and no answer it went right to voice mail. - Mike replies to CamilleI too received this call. While I had him on the telephone I googled the number and found these blogs about him. To annoy him I called him back 150 times within 45 mintues:-) he was pretty annoyed:-) I also had my police buddy trace his call. Little does he know they are tracking him!!!
- LindaI too received the same type of call stating that I owed taxes. I said "no I don't" then he changed his story to that I owe taxes from 2011 because they were not filed correctly or completely and asked for the name of my CPA or accountant. I told him that if he was with the government that the information that he needed would be on my tax form. He also said that there was a warrant for my arrest. He had an Indian accent. We got disconnected. He has called my office phone 13 times between 12:19 and 12:31.
- Roxanne| 2 repliesI also received the same phone call from the same type of a person. He said his name was Robert Mathew an IRS supervisor. Including a personel number. He said I needed to go to Safeway and get special money orders, 3 at 950 dollars each and one for 400.. If I didn't comply police would be at my door to arrest me within 24 hours . He said he will call me a wire routing information and said that I couldn't discuss this with anybody. He has my SS number and bank info already.

- ColleenReceived a phone call from this number first at 7:54 a.m. One earlier but no response on end of line. Received one yesterday representing the US Treasury from 213-481-2498. Stupidly called back because I could not find a fraud alert. Was a disconnected number. Yesterday's caller was a Robo call with an asian accent. I will once again ensure all my fraud alerts are up to date.

- Kristina C.| 1 replyI got a call from the same number as everyone else but he left me a message but did not say who the message is for all he said was not to ignore the call and ignoring will lead to be in front of a jury or grand mastitrate. Then left a different number to call. He had an Indian accent but I knew this is a scam. I never called back and will get phone blockers.
- Mary SHA - he called me too. I told him I called Bull$hit! he wasn't sure what to say. Then gathered himself and told me his detectives would be at my place of work to arrest me in 40 minutes. I hung up. Then Icalled back and when he answered the phone "US Treasury" I said No you aren't." He hung up. I called him back again - and told him to send me something in the mail - he told me he didn't have to - that he was going to freeze all my accounts. I told him "no you aren't" he hung up again. This is kind of fun!

- Jeff RI got a recorded call from a man that says there's an important enforcement action against me that needs to be taken care of. He had an foreign accent and asked that I call back. I didn't after reading all of the notes above.
- Karen SWe got the same call, only the caller first identified himself as Robert James, then changed it to Robert Matthews, then back to Robert James again. In the original message it said something about "Cooperate with Hurst(?) and let Hurst help you". When I asked him why he gave me two different names, the call was mysteriously disconnected. But they did call back later and leave another message.
- Amy| 1 replyJust got a call from 213-293-3920 saying he is with the US Treasury. Heavy accent. He said, ignoring this call will be "an intentional second offense." I will need to appear before a magistrate judge or grand jury for a federal offense. "I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you."
- MichelI got this same call. I told him I didn't know who the hell he thought he was calling and threatening and that I didn't appreciate it. I told him check with your supervisor, we don't owe taxes. We took care of that problem and sent the paperwork registered mail and have signed proof.
