James - CatahoulaThey are from India. The calling number is a redirect. Total scam with people speaking bad English.
- Caller: Windows Operating System
- scam stopperThis is a total scam originating in India.
It used a redirected call. Caller told me I have a virus on my Windows 7 os. I dont use windows. I asked to speak to a supervisor and called bs and got hung up on. - BillSpammers. Said they were Windows Support and wanted me to go to my computer. They knew may name. I hung up.
- WillThis guy just called me and said the same thing. I called him out instantly and he kept it up. Then when I hung up on him he called me back. He said "sorry sir, we were disconnected" I said "we were disconnected because I [***] hung up"
He wouldn't let it go tho, he was determined, i'll give him that. - FactotumGot a call at 5:30 p.m. from some dude who had such a bad accent that I laughed at him. Something about a computer and access and error messages. I know it's bogus because I don't use Windows products. When I asked for his company's name and main number he hung up. Definitely from a call center in India. Worth taking the call if only to laugh at their atrocious English and hilarious accents.
- Caller: unknown
- Call type: Telemarketer
- UnknownJust received a call also from this number asking if we used Windows and mentioned a problem with Windows and he did speak with an accent. We told him that this was a scam He then provided a company name which was Tareyour PC and the phone number he said he was calling from was 289-275-0314
- Caller: Tareyour PC???
- SueI received a call from this number this evening. The person could not be understood at all. Kept jabbering about my operating system and wanted me to go to my computer. I told him that my IT person would take care of any issues with my computer and he said that a tech would not be able to take care of my computer. I laughed and said that there was no way that I was going to let him do anything with my computer and hung up. So incredibly annoying.
- AnnoyedCaller w/ an Indian accent and lots of background noise (like in a busy room) called about my Windows OS needing to be check for viruses. He asked me to go to my computer and follow his directions. I said no, my computer was adequately protected and hung up.
- Caller: MGL BPO
- Victoria S.| 1 replyJust received a call from this number. Male with Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft. Claimed to have a report from my computer with detected malware and spyware. I asked fort he time stamp on the report and he had no idea what I was talking about So I told him that his call was BS because Microsoft has a time stamp on all reports and that he was trying to scam people. Then I hung up. Caller ID listed the name as MGL BPO. No idea what that could possibly mean. Just glad I got the call instead of my elderly mother or hysterical brother.
- Caller: MGL BPO
- Harraam| 1 replyI just had a call from this number 213-333-3206 MGL BPO, woke me up as I work nights as sheriff dispatch. The guy on the phone spoke with heavy Punjabi (accent from a region in India). Right away I asked him in Doabi ( our native language ) what is he selling and that my husband whos an IT consultant maintains all the computers in the house. Then he just hung up without letting me finish my words. The nerve!
If you have caller ID, save this number as evidence and call FTC if you want to pursue a complaint.- Caller: MGL BPO
- TC in HP NCMale caller had heavy Indian accent. Said he was calling from Windows Repair Service, and that they'd been getting error messages from my computer for several days. When I asked him to identify which computer, he hung up. Tried to call back, but the number doesn't go through. Reported to my local police dept. and the national do-not-call registry.
- DannySame thing as all the others. A call from India telling me I had errors on my Windows Lap top and they are here to help me. When I told them I had a Mac desktop he said he must have dialed the wrong number. Watch out for these scammers.
- Caller: Don't know
- AmandaSame thing here. Got a call and in bad English he told me they had been getting error messages from my computer for two weeks and that these were serious problems. The funniest part was he told me his about five times and kept asking if I got what he was saying. He wanted me to go to my computer and got all annoyed with me when I said I couldn't do that right now. He asked me why and I said I didn't have a computer with a windows opperating system. He insisted I did. When I asked for a number to call him back later when I had time he hung up. The only thing that had me concerned was his insistance that we had a windows computer. I have a Mac, but my husband uses his work laptop from home sometimes. Hopefully a harmless call, but I'm really curious as to what they are up to. Sounds like they could really cause some trouble!!
- Caller: Would clearly give the name
- Tom replies to HarraamI love that you questioned him in Doabi! These guys called me, too, asking for somebody who hasn't been at this number for years. I run Linux.
- Baergus NaffringI have received two calls from these clowns lately. Their scam is so laughably obvious that I can't believe they can deliver their pitch without laughing. Of course, I have sixteen years of experience in the field of Information Technology, so I was able to cut right through their nonsense with laser-like acuity. Anyone with less astute powers of computer knowledge could easily be sucked in by the masterfully-brilliant line: "Your computer has been sending us error messages. We know this because we are a technical department."
- Caller: MGL BPO
- Larry replies to Jamie| 3 repliesThe caller sounded much like all of the others, a bandage head from India. He said that he was calling from the technical department of Windows. I said, "No, you're not; you're a liar. G'bye!"
The previous call from these jerks, the male said the same thing and when I told him that I didn't believe him, he said, "Okay, I want to f_ _k your wife." (absolutley true story). - Ms Z| 1 replyReceived a phone call this morning from that number. Male in heavy Indian accent said they were receiving high server volume and error from my computer. I could barely hear him because there was a lot of background noise. I told him you have the wrong number and he asked if is was Ms. (my last name) and I said yes. He said that my Windows 7 operating system was sending error reports, I then told him that's not possible because I don't have a windows computer. (Linux & Apple). He tried to disagree so I hung up.
- ByrdSame as others except this time it was a female I told them I knew it was a scam and they hung up
- Caller: MGL BPO
- Fed up with these callsJust got a phone call from the same number. I let them go on describing my " Computer Problems" after a few minutes I told them, I work at the local Police Station in the fraud department and am quite aware of their scam. They hung up immediately.
