Got a call from this number. It was a recording made by a person with a middle eastern accent stating "This is an enforcement action..." They mentioned the US Treasury and second attempt to collect.

I hung up.
In addition to not having any tax, debt issues, the government still sends mail and doesn't call from cell phones.
Probably trying to snag some old people.

Similar to Tim's experience.  middle eastern accent stating "this is an enforcement action"... "second attempt".. "please call 213.401.2846"... then some scare phrase about not calling is punishable or could result in fines.

Just received a message with same Middle-Eastern accent. Threatened legal action if I did not call back.

The man mentions US Treasury federal criminal offense and I think he said something about ignoring this and threatens legal action. Not sure I agree with the middle east accent.  No name or company mentioned. Totally a scam.

Same thing.  A recording in broken English gonna take me to the big house......................

I got a recorded call with an Indian accent.  I called it back and they ended up disconnecting my call 2x and now I can't call the number- it just says it is out of service or a fast busy signal.  They tried to tell me I owed $3000 in back taxes from 2011 and they were going to arrest me.  I only kept calling back b/c I knew it was a scam, but was curious what else they were going to say.  

Threatening.  Male caller left message on our home machine and told us we had to call him back. Something about Federal Treasury [then garbled].  If we ignore this warning we would face appearance before a magistrate judge or grand jury for a federal criminal offense.  If we do not call him we could face jail time.  He left this number (which matched the caller ID) but did not identify himself or who he [purportedly] worked for.  He ended with  "I advise you to cooperate with us to help us help you" so " First part of message was garbled---honestly I could not detect an accent.

We got the same call, all the threats and warnings and nasty middle-eastern caller. Can't understand what he is saying mostly.  There has to be a place to report these calls to?

Caller said (exact quote from answering machine): "This message is intended to contact you. My name is Pete Modert {Steve? Modert? -not clearly spoken} .
I am calling regarding an enforcement action executed by US Treasury intending your serious attention."

(Note that he did have a slight foreign accent and he did say "intending your serious attention" rather than "requiring your serious attention" which would have been more idiomatically correct in American English)

Because I have no possible issues with the Treasury Department, I am considering this call a Scam.

Threatening! Middle Eastern or Indian Accent . Left VM something about US Treasury , apperance before a Magistate judge. Etc etc etc . SCAM .

Same situation as described above.  213-401-2846 left TWO threatening messages on our home voice mail.  Though the speaker, with Indian accent, did not leave his name, he did say ignoring the call would result in charges for federal crimes.  It's a scam!!!

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:

I got 5 of these messages on my machine today!!  SCAM.

I received the exact phone call.
Filipino Accent, Male, Name sounded like Steve Martin :) or Steve Morin.
Second time I received his phone call less than 24 hours apart, the recording replayed itself on my machine until I picked up the phone.
Total scam.

The Indian scammer/extortionists attempt to use masking devices but the Hindi comes through anyway.

Same message..The man,  Steven Martin, mentions US Treasury federal criminal offense  and threatens legal action.

I got a phone call from this number 213-401-2846
He left a message saying he was from US Treasury and this was a final attempt before legal action would be taken.  I called back & spoke with someone with an accent but then he kept hanging up on me when I tried to get any information from him.

Sounding like a SCAM!

Got the same message as above on 8-22 and twice on 8-23.  Person's name sounded like Steve Modert ?  The same stuff about the US tTeasury and Grand Jury.  This was our second notice before action would be taken. No answer when we called the name.   SCAM ???
