James Harris called from Dept of Legal Affairs.  Said there had been an enforcement action against me.  Was told to retain an attorney if I did not return call.

called from Dept of Legal Affairs. Left a message to call back. Sounds like a scam. I did not return the call.

Someone from Dept. of Legal Affairs stating that 7 letters informing my wife of "legal action" have not been responded to and legal action is now being taken. He had a very heavy accent and the line kept breaking up (like a very bad long distance call from a 3rd world country). I just hung up on him after calling out his [***].

Received call just like above.  

Yep, James Harris called me too -- by my maiden name and living at an old address.  I listened to his speal and asked for a call back number. I googled the phone number and found this.  Then he just happened to call back with more helpful information so I called him on his BS, demanded to be removed from the list, and hung up.  Don't waste your time with answering this call!

Same type of call here. Received the last two days. Message left both times.

Got the same call.  Called  back and left message saying that I called the Federal Trade Commission and left them their number.  Haven't heard back.

Just got home from work and had the same message  from James Harris claiming to be an agent for the Dept. of Legal Affairs.  I listened to the message and then looked up the number.  Thanks to all the postings I knew it was a fraud and I didn't call him back.

i also got a phone call from james harris claiming the same I hung up looked up the number and look what I found yup the same story LOL

Got a message yesterday from this number.  Caller id said California.  Could not understand him, but said something about department of legal affairs and have my grandson call him back.  Received a call this morning from same number, caller id just showing out of area.  He said if my grandson didn't call him back, an officer will show up at the door with a suppena.  I told him I thought he was full of crap.  He said ok, just wait for the cops and then told me my address.  What a jerk!

My parents received two messages from this person and number on their home phone for me.  I blocked my number and called back to get a message that starts with "Thank you for calling the Department of Legal Affairs U.S. Treasury..." The speaker on the message is a woman with a distinct Indian accent and the background is very loud with talking you can't make out.  I knew right away that this was a scam and it has been reported to the local police department.  Not much can be done due to jurisdiction, but I hope that putting this information out there will help other people protect themselves.

I got the same kind of call this morning except he used the name Ken Neil. Glad to find this post, not calling back.

I received the same call, I tested him and asked if I could pay right now b/c I don't want to go to jail. He didn't offer any option to pay him now… So after I hung up w/ him I called my accountant and he said this scam is running like wild fire right now.

I was 1st told I had a class action suit and the IRS wanted money from 2009. Anyway tell them anything you like, and have fun with them.

Yep, same message left for my wife under her maiden name. Said his name was James Harris with Dept. Of Legal Affairs. Very thick accent, didn't sound very professional. Won't be calling back.

Got the same call stating he was from the Treasury Dept. He asked For my lawyers name after stating that they had sent me several Letters  concerning "legal Action" which they had not. I stopped him there asked for his name and badge number which he gave me "Rob Harris" and some badge number (they would not have badge numbers btw). Took his number down and hung up. Serched the numbers and found this site..Thanks for posting ppl. Its a Big Scam

Got the same phone call. James Harris, Dept of Legal Affairs. Gotta be a scam.

Received two messages from a man calling himself Ken Hill. The second message stated that an arrest warrant has been issued for me. This certainly piqued my curiosity, so I called back. Another man, with the same Indian accent, restated what was in the message & said that I would be arrested within the next three hours for tax evasion / fraud. I told him that what he was doing is fraud & he yelled that authorities would be at my house & he hung up.

I called my local police department's non-emergency number & they verified that is is a SCAM, so I reported what information I had to the IRS via their website.

Same message sounding very scripted except he called himself James Henrich now heh heh. I reported it to the actual dept of the treasury website anyway.

I got the same call from james harris. Icalled the number on my vcmail and sd an officer was at door step and no one was home. i was being sued for$over $4700.. he can bearly speak english. when I confronted him of him trying to scam me. he hung up. when i called that number back again to speak to inspector smith. when i toll him i knew this is a scam. he started to laugh and said i was dumb and that he made more money then i did. i said to him the dept of legal affair would not have someone in india call he then hu.

James Harris keeps calling us. He says he is from legal affairs and a enforcement action has been taken against my husband on 12/9. Attorney has been hired and they ensure a legal mess for us. His number is 213-426-8834. Who can we actually report this to?
